Save The Gultches Feb 18-21

Swapped out the front drive shaft in the morning (fixed every single vibe problem I was having) and drove two hours to The Gultches. Paid to get in, turned on to the first trail and this:

Apparently even 760 joints don't hold up well either. Thanks to everyone that helped out and screw the only person that had a spare and wanted $100 for it. For any of you wondering, it's fine to drive 2 hours with a sock stuffed in your axle tube.

Is that not a 297 Joint? It says 297...

I wouldn't be scared to run alloy shafts. I've never broken a ring a pinion with alloys.

He is in/near Irmo? I'm pretty sure he is a friend of my uncle. I was supposed to check out that rig last time I was down there.

Yup, that's him. HIs 18 yr old daughter drives has a V8 ZJ on 35s with a bright pink warn winch on it. lol

You know what, it sure enough does say that. I didn't even both to check when I bought them because I was buying them from someone that i trusted. I just saw the caps were bigger than my old ones and assumed it was 760. Awesome junk right there.

Loki, sorry you had such bad luck Saturday. I would seriously look into either the rcv's or alloy shafts and keep the d30. IF you go alloy's make sure you can run full clips on them. Were you spinning the tires hard when it leet go? If I had it to go over I'd build something like what you have. I had fun and enjoyed it. It was worth going to see the place and try the wheleing out. I picked up a suck down winch from Harbor Freight on the way home. Miller is the guy in the white buggified xj. He had a stroke recently and seems to be doing well. Nice guy and from what I hear is at gulches often. I'll be looking for a place to test the suck down on so maybe I'll plan another day trip over there when I get done. "shipwreck" has a nice spot to test it out on. Still want to find the guy that put a gopro on my hood right before I went up it. :)

Guy we camped with had quite a few cameras and said he got a few crazy videos from inside peoples rigs. His name is Decomp on NC4x4, he would have been on a 4 wheeler all day. Might check it out.

THis guy had a red shirt on IIRC, and about 2 or 3 cameras. Reminded me of me when film was still king. LOL! I only saw him walking around thoug.

Jeep Geek told me about this one and I found it on us jeeps

Awesome! Where'd you find it?

Pirate! He said he would post it there. However, it was his friend that posted it. Dude has like 60 video's or something like that.

Nice video! I think I like my mounting spot for the GoPro a bit more, I'd like to at least seen some wheel action from that!

Well I want to borrrow your camera! :looney:

Yeah, at the bigging of the video it looked like you just rolled right over what everyone was having trouble with. That first rock usually hangs people up. I guess having 60" tall tires helps.
