Salvage title and insurance

Have any of you had any problems getting insurance on a vehicle with a salvage title? All I want is liability. I hear many companies decline to write policies on salvage title vehicles.

Some require a roadworthiness inspection. Others will without it but not if financing is involved. The only time I've insured a salvage title vehicle was with State Farm and it was no problem to get liability.

Depends on the insurance company. Some time they will others wont. I had a problem getting insurance back on my XJ after hail a few years ago, because it was deemed a "total loss" but not a salvage vehicle. Are you getting push back from your insurance?

No I am just getting ready to deal with getting my vehicle repaired after it was hit by another party. I just need to know my options. I only run liability. I am preparing my response if they try to total it out and low ball me.

Insurance sucks, such a scam. Best of luck with it all.

If the payout is low, the buy-back should be even lower.

I bought back my WJ after Esurance totalled it then kept Liability on it . you can't insure a salvage titled vehicle any better than liability .

I have comprehensive on my vehicles with salvage titles. Had a couple of checks cut for my yellow XJ without any questions asked. Sum total paid by my insurance company to cover damage is now double what I paid for the Jeep in 2006.

Wish I could buy a 6 year old XJ with 68k on it for $2200 again. It'd be even less if Troy didn't jack up the price on me.

Insurance company stated a totaled vehicle can only be insured for liability . Once the insurance company cuts you a check as ...totalled...vehicle they will not insure it beyond liability . So once they cut that check and you buy it back it will be insured as liability .

Zac's 97 had a salvage title, and a teen age driver. We had liability on it.

I've had several, no issues, State Farm, USAA and Farm Bureau. My Titan was salvage and I had full coverage and financing!

Until you need it. Would'nt you rather pay $60 a month for liability coverge than ever have to come out of your own pocket for something your'e responsible for doing?

Knock on wood, never had to deal with that. Only times I've had to deal with insurance is getting cars stolen and having to fight to get a fair value for replacement. I just get more chapped about paying full insurance for multiple cars even though I can only drive one at a time.

Nope, each car costs X amount of dollars. They give you a discount for multiple vehicles. It should be based on the most expensive car, and then you just pay like 10$ more per car.

Another factor is if the vehicle trades hands. In some cases no salvage title is issued, like when it was your vehicle, and you agreed to pay the buyback fee. I have had a few totaled for insurance that were never titled as salvage.
