RV Garage Addition (Don't have or want an RV)

I think you are building your shop nicer than my house.

Nice work.
Thanks! Some of it might be nicer than my house too. I was kinda in a rush on that since we were living in a camper. Hence the "don't have or want an RV ". 14 months was enough for a lifetime.

After a pack rat started building a nest on the battery of the 99, I decided to move everything in, even though I will need to move some out to finish a few things.
First time since we got the wife's Escape and the two door that there's been no vehicles in the driveway.

I figured out what to put on the shelf above the beam.

Made some jambs and casing for the opening between garages. I edge banded plywood for the jambs but only had enough oak for the side casings. No way in hell I would ever pay Home Depot almost $14/ board ft so I was planning to go down to Phoenix and stock up on oak and poplar. Mentioned that to the neighbor and he gave me an oak shelf that he had taken down. Just the right length and width for both tops.

Used some more of the extra tile to cover the concrete of the bathroom step- up

Built a couple of workbenches mostly from stuff I had laying around. Home Depot had a deal on butcher block countertops so I went with those.
I thought I had a couple cherry boards to use for drawer fronts but when I dug them out discovered they were aromatic cedar. Used them anyway.
Now every time I start my dust collector the shop smells like cedar. The two boards were just enough to do five fronts so I had to do something different
for the other workbench. Found some leftover laminate from the kitchen counters and just enough assorted pieces of particle boad to make four fronts.
Finished those up last night, will get pics when they're installed.

Turned out okay. I swear I cut the top three faces so the pattern would line up, but tried every possible orientation and couldn't get it to work

On the bright side, you left enough of an overhang on the top for clamps. 👍

That is a conundrum.

I think it has something to do with the sofa in the staircase in Dirk Gently's Holistic Detective Agency.

Of course, and being utilized already. The Harbor Freight benchtop bandsaw stand is sized for a much deeper bench top

Lol, had to Google that. Read the book when it came out a long long time ago, no longer have a copy.

Don't make it sound like it was so long ago.

I remember when it came out.

Heck, I remember waiting for "Thanks for all the Fish" to come out.

i swear I am not old.

Always loved that title.
Might have to read the "trilogy" again

Sweet!

What keeps the wheels from rolling?

1/4" x 3/4" strips of oak

Haven't done much that shows lately. Mostly just organizing tools and supplies. Added a nice sized canvas of one of my other favorite mustangs.
Got the grandkids here until the end of the month so not much will be getting done. Will order the lift to get here early July.
Can't get it delivered right here thanks to the dirt road, but my contractor buddy that owns the brewery said that I could have it delivered to his shop.
