Hey guys,

Doing a lift install on Shepard AFB thursday the 30th. Been doin it a couple of days already. Hopefully I'll get it done tommorrow. Its been a pain the whole way. Right now I've got to figure out how to get the tracbar bolt on the axle out since the head snapped off of it. going to try a metal blade and a jigsaw. Tried a sawzall but just snapped the blades. So, I'm going to try the smaller easier to control jigsaw. otherwise I'll have to drill it out:gonnablow hopefully I'll be able to get the rest knocked out with a 12 hour day.

all are welcome to come and lend a hand!!!

Hey File05, Are you stationed at Shepard. My son (Dave) just arrived there on tuesday for tech school for the Air Force and he is dieing to talk to some cherokee owners. Dave says he has seen a couple of lifted xjs around the base but has only been able to contact one owner and that owner is leaving for a new assignment next Thursday. Let me know if your interested in chatting with him and I will give you Cell #.
Thanx Digger

thats no problem. I'm not actually stationed there. I'm stationed at Altus AFB. Its an hour and half away but they have much better lifts and more tools. I'd be happy to chat with him and talk XJs.

I got the front end 95% done today. just have to put a better bolt in for the lower tracbar in(God that thing was a PIA!) and install the shocks. The only thing that is worrying me is the pitman arm and how maxed out the drag link is. I'm afraid I'm going to snap it on the trail.

But anyway the rear spring bolts are coming out surprisingly easly. The top shock bolts snapped off (as expected) The annoying thing is now I have to let it sit until monday. Hopefully I'll get it done monday and down in time to get it aligned. I really don't want to drive it home an hour and half with the front tires toed in as bad as they are right now.

Go to GoJeep's site & follow the directions to do a quick alignment yourself. It will get the toe pretty close. Good luck. JIM.

COol, I'll have to check that out.
I hope I don't have to replace the pitman arm. although a drop one would be good.

you run a drop pitman? or the homebrew discos?

if you run the pitman, suggestion on where to get one?
Got mine from Ebay a few years ago.
Haven't had discos in about as long.

I'm down at Robins AFB, i'm looking at the Rusty's 4.5" spring pack kit (with the wheels and tires). I'd be interested to hear about the ride quality...how would you compare it to stock? I'm considering not going over 31" because of the stock 3.07 gearing. Thanks.

John

I'm also looking at this setup. It must be a USAF special or something. I was at Vance AFB for four year but now I'm at Geilenkirchen NATO AB Germany. I was also wanting to know about the ride frome this kit and how it handles offroad.

Are you with the AWACS unit at GK? I'm with JSTARS.

We have a few AWACS but I'm Security Forces (AKA- International Military Police at GK).

You guys need to get stationed at Tinker.
From my house, I can hit the base with a rock, but I'd be arrested.

Well, I can't tell really how well it rides yet. Its stiffer like you'd expect but haven't gotten it aligned yet so we'll have to see after I take care of all that next week. hopefully I'll get to flex it out soon too.
