Rugged Ridge steering

Do you mean WJ conversion? Is that a bolt on mod? What parts do you need for that? I've heard of people doing WJ steering and the bigger brakes that come with them but you'll need to swap the knuckles too for that and I can't see all those parts being any cheaper. TRE's for your jeep are like $20 each if that right?

Nope, its just a ZJ tie rod, bolts right up. If I were to replace the TRE's at $20 each that is $75 in TRE's and another $100 or so for a new drag link (only way to replace the outer TRE on that cause it is built in)

So my options are

Rugged ridge - $167
Stock - $175
ZJ - $125
Rusty's - $275
JCR - $314
Currie - $399

I thought there was a fix for the rugged ridge setup. If anyone knows of a way to make it work I would be rather grateful.

The problem with the RR kit is for all it's extra beef on the steering rods it still uses the stock TRE's, they will become your the weakest link now and wear out faster and possible break under stress sooner than later. You could always try your luck at the JY. You might get lucky and find a good stock replacement. I've never seen the ZJ setup done so I don't know. I personally love my JCR OTK/OTA setup but it was a lot of work to install and it can be difficult to maintain and parts are not cheap either. But it is an awesome setup, super tough and very much trail rated.

I went ahead and ordered an entire ZJ kit off Ebay for $101 shipped. Now I just need to find a drop pitman arm that works better than what I have now.

Any suggestions? I need to know which ones drop the most, my tie rod/drag link is hitting my JKS quicker discos

You dont want a drop pitman arm unless you are going to move the trackbar.There is a separate fix for relocating the sway bar link mount.

I use a stock ZJ pitman are it's a 1" drop compared to stock XJ.

I ran the ZJ set up... then the R.Ridge...
The R.Ridge is on the garage floor & the old ZJ set up is back on the XJ.


So for the $$$ the ZJ set up is probably your best bet...

I bought the Rugged ridge set-up. I took it out after 15 minutes. Sold it on craigslist the next day. It Sucks.
