I went, I just got there really late on Friday night. I started the trail at 10 p.m. friday night and did some night wheeling past the gatekeeper and slabs and camped before Little Sluice. I went with a 69' FJ-40 Land Cruiser on 38's TSL SX's, 80' Toyota tube buggie on 37" Mtr's, 76' CJ-7 on 33's, and me on 35" mtrs. My arb and detroit worked great and I had a fun time effortlessly climbing stuff that freaked me out before. This weekend is a dream come true, I wanted to do this trail for as long as I knew what the Rubicon was, 6 yrs ago. I want to go a few more times this summer. Sorry I missed you guys. I'll try to get my throw away pics developed and then scanned in to my pc. Damage for me was slight door dings, rear rock slider scrathes/dings and a driver side broken tail light. I did most of that on the True Big Sluice/Middle Sluice around the big rocks and tree. That section is awesome going up and down.

Joe submarined it, hydrolocked the motor, broke a conn. rod and shredded the oil pan. the oil pan was removed,I chopped a piece of my fender off to weld up the pan, locked the piston in place, put the pan back on, added oil and drove it out.

Where did he hydrolock the motor? I didn't see much water at all. There was 1 small section of water with a very deep center that people got stuck in. Did he go for the center and fall into the hole? My bud on 37" mtr's got stuck there for a second before putting in reverse and going to the right side bank.

I see you guys found some water. I didn't see too much. Was it east/past Buck Island? I went a little past Buck Island as my group camped there, maybe 1 mile past it and came back. The 80' yota broke a birfield so we didn't get in to far.

Past Buck Island @ the Rubicon springs area (pretty much just before that campground). Joe pulled out a Bronco that got stuck in mud and then tried going downstream and promptly fell in a hole.

The steering looks pretty beefy on that rig. Man that really sucks, I hydrolocked my 4.0L in my 91' yj years ago, not fun. Man those Toyota's were pretty set up. I showed them though what an xj can do. Turned lots of heads and got some respect. I made more than a few high $$$ Yota's look stupid. No grocery getter/soccer mom rig here. :moon: A 3" lifted 31" tired xj can do some amazing things, I've seen it years ago when I got turned on to xj and gave them the respect they deserve for such an under rated 4 wheel rig.

Well, I was the little guy in the group (3",31's, limited slip F/R) and I had a great time. This was the first time I had taken my Jeep into the rocks, and I was really happy with how well I got through. Being low to the ground required me to put a bit more thought into my lines, and I gotta give Remi some credit for showing me where not to go on 31's. I think I managed to get by every place he got stuck by taking a slightly different line.

I suffered only minor trail damage including a broken front marker light, some rash on the passenger door, bent up rocker guards, and bent front skid. The rocker skids were of my own (apparently inadequate) design, and bent and twisted so much that they kept my doors from opening. I had to go in and out the window for most of the weekend.

The trip was great, the people were great, and I look forward to doing it again sometime.

it was a great trip! not only did we teach them yodas a lesson on the trail, but they all stood slack jawed when the esspresso machine started steaming milk at camp in the morn at spider lake. little update on the fire. looks as if the plastic part of the fuel line cracked and had been spraying fuel in the area of the header. it finanly got toooooo hot going up grapevine and ignited! as remi said the damage was minimum as the rubiconvoy sprang into action and they got it out before i could get my extinguser from the back. remi didn't mention my design for a high clearance tie rod. i dropped it straight down on approach to buck island and it bent upwards about 2-3 inches! trail fix with a bottle jack and it actually tracked straighter on the ride home! big thanks to lee (crazy) and justin and travis. i certainly would wheel with you guys again. you rock!! (so to speak!) i will post up my pics tomorrow when i'm at work, the bandwidth is better , heh,heh.....

Wow that looks like fun, hope to make it up there soon. The only thing that matter it that your guys made it home safe.

Pics of the trip from my camera. Rubicon pics

This trip was amazing even though we had some tough times, (usually caused by "Toys" blocking the road) it was still alot of fun. In the process of making new crossmember for jeep that Kejtar shows in his album that we had a cherokee parked on trying to straighten! 2x6x5/16 should do it! the transfer case is 3 5/16 higher than stock placement! :scared:

I fortunately didn't have a lot of Yota's in front of me. They were kind of cleared out when my group came through. I didn't like their stickers like: Friends don't let friends drive Jeeps & A Jeep is just another rock to a Toyota. Jeep started this crazy 4 wheel thing anyways so have some respect. :looser: On that note, there were some very nicely setup Yota's out there with their low dual t-case Marlin Crawlers, but they got stuck just the same as the rest of us most of the time. The people I meet were also extremely nice and ready to help if needed.

I wish I could have gone with you guys. It must have been quite a site for people to see a pack of xj's wheeling together. It was pretty busy last weekend with all the Toyotas and the Early Bronco club there. I had lots of fun and am trying to get something going again real soon.
