Im planning to take my dad wheeling for his first time. Was thinking the rubicon. Anybody else interested in a run on labor day weekend? How busy will it be?

Pretty busy. That's when cantina for the con is happening. I'm planning on being there.

Hmm. Barret gate is 82" for a reason. I think my rig is like 82.5"... If I cant fit through Barrets gate that weekend Ill just keep heading up the hill !

Barret it 85" wide. My front is 82 and I made it just fine

The Hi landers website says 82". Ill believe you over them.

How crazy is the cantina? Not sure i want my dads first experience to be a drunken mess

It's not to crazy. Last year I remember only one drunk idiot. He came jamming across the spillway pretty fast then stalled his truck blocking the trail in front of the cantina. And his truck wouldn't start. All eyes on him until his buddy's tow strap pull started his truck out of the way on like the third attempt. But really there are a lot of pretty trucks that show up and just park along the spillway. A lot of reps from the industry and jeep clubs. Pretty decent crowd overall. Trail wasn't too crowded either

I waited a ton at cantina last year.. Took forever to get to soup. Think I showed up at about 10:30 or 11 at soup. Was at the spillway about 4 pm. So maybe hit the trail a lot earlier when people are recovering from the hangovers.

I got in early on Friday. Up to spider and back in record time. We camped at the base of walker hill. Came back to the spillway Saturday pretty early for tacos. I left around 5pm Saturday. I heard there was carnage on the trail after I left. I feel like I passed tony pelligrino on the trail like 5 or 6 times on the trail. Other than him and the genright crew that was all the traffic for me.
