Rubicon run in June

Uh... look here. ;)
I'm sure there will be an informal run in June. I'm not really ready to commit to a date yet, kinda depends on the weather between now and then.

Some of my friends and I make Memorial day weekend our first real run of the year. We go up Thursday night and wheel until about 2AM. As soon as we make camp it's time to   and drink until someone :puke:

Heah, what happened to the Coyote/Red trip in June? I thought it was the last week in June 1 week after our Rubicon run.

We have found in the past that the Red/Coyote Lake trail has been closed in June. Also the bugs in October are a lot less. There is an informal run for Bald Mtn in June, look for a message from WheelrDealr.

Thanks for the info. Are you coming on the Rubicon run in mid June Chuck? We should have a good group going and being early in the season and starting the trail early friday, we should get a good jump on the trail even if we get a little delayed or have issues. I have never done the trail, but have read alot and seen it on t.v. & magazines. People say it is tough and then others say not to build a vehicle so much for an easier trail. Many people say that the trail can be done with 31" tires and maybe open diffs to maybe a locker in the back at least. I think I will be ready with dual lockers, 35's, winch, spare parts etc, as long as I don't have any major mechanical problems.

I did the Con last year around June. It was a great trip except for ZPD(Zion) rolling on his the side. I felt my rig was well setup for the trip. 4.10's, 33" MTR's, 6" lift and a rear locker. I did stall kinda often, stick and all, but I kept up with Gary and Zion pretty well.

I still need to finish up my front axle and OTK steering. My family and I are also working on selling our house to build a new one in Kerman, SW of Fresno. So my main wheeling adventures need to be close by for now.

I do have the time scheduled off for the Rubicon in August and am really looking forward to another great Swamp run in July. Hope to see you at one of those!

That's cool. Business comes before play. I cannot make the whole Rubicon trip during the week in August, but I plan on making the Fordyce & Barrett Lake trips during the 2 back to back weekends around the rubicon trip. Hope to see you there. My rig is pretty setup. I'm just finishing getting my compressor, switches, wiring, airline etc hooked up to my dana 30, I have a detroit in my dana 44 rear with 4.56 gears on 35" mts. I hope to make some trips out by you as well. Is Swamp Lake/Coyote/Bald etc out your way? If so, I'd like to hook up with you and your buds to wheel those trails.

It's just me & Neil, and I don't even know if he would claim me. :D

Yup those trails are only about an hour from Fresno. Just post when you want to go, or make plans for the Swamp run.

Chuck,
Are any of those trails ones that can be done in a day or maybe can we get 2 in a long day? I heard Swamp & Coyote are pretty challenging trails and scenic so maybe we can do them Sat & Sun. Are they close to each other? I know Brett just got back from Michigan and is really itching to get some wheeling in soon. I don't think I'm off of work on for the 4th of July considering the 4th falls on Sunday, but I could probably down for those runs in July sometime. Let's through a date out there and give some people time to plan so we can get a good size group.

You should move on up north. What kind of trails do you "southerners" do down there? Big Bear, Johnson Valley, etc? How far is Johnson Valley from LA? I hope to get down there too, but the Rubicon is both very challenging and had nice terrain whereas Johnson Valley trails look hardcore, but hot, dry, and dusty in the middle of nowhere.
