Rubicon Oversight Committee Meetings

As some of you know, I attend most of the Rubicon Oversight Committee meetings held in Placerville every month. As some of you know, I live in Sparks, Nevada. It's 250 miles round trip!

This year I'm going to try and cut down the amount of driving I do because of fuel prices and time. I'm also trying to work with Placer County on similar issues on the Tahoe side.

I'm wondering if there are any NAXJA members out there who live closer to Placerville that would like to step up and start attending these meetings. Two of you could split the meetings.

The meetings are held in Placerville on the second Thursday of each month. The start time is usually 8:30am. (This month it starts at 10am.) The meetings are currently being held in the County Library.

Please post up if this is something you might be able to do.

Thanks,

Doug

If I quit my job to go to school full time I might be able to hit quite a few of these. But as it is now I can't due to work.

Oh, and THANK YOU for all your hard work

It was another thrilling meeting yesterday.

The new draft of the RTMP should be out in a week or two. I will post up when the window for comments and suggestion opens.

The FS, County and CHP are working toward making the road from Airport Flat to Wentworth Springs green sticker legal. There are actually three sections of road that will become "combined use road".

The issue regarding the sign stating the voluntary restriction of OHV users from Loon Lake Road will be put off until next fall and will probably end up being part of the RTMP.

The county says it has no plan to do anything with the Little Sluice.

I can't believe that there are no firefighters or self employed people out there that can give up four hours a month to attend a ROC meeting.

At this time, it looks like I should be able to make the April and May meetings. Possibly June as well.

Thank you for all the effort you put in.

Heres my deal. Thursdays are the only day I don't have school or work, so I could possibly go to a meeting or two until the end of the semester, but even that depends on tests cramming. I could go but more than likely would not be able to commit until about two weeks out (I have a couple of dis-organized professors and they don't even know when they want the tests). I will know in a week if I can go to the April meeting.

I think it is a 3 hour drive but its pretty much a straight shot.

Phil, let me know if you want to alternate meetings, or work something else out.

A three hour drive is no better than what I was doing.

I was hoping to find someone local to spend a couple of hours a month attending the meetings and posting up some notes.

6.5 hours round trip. But I really like road trips and love government meetings. How long do the meetings last by the way?

The meetings are currently scheduled 8:30am to 12 noon.

That would mean a very early start to your day.

I had a 2.5 hour drive time each way over Donner Summit.

The last time over 80 was closed so I came over on old highway 40 past Sugar Bowl. It wasn't too bad.

A few times I stayed with the guy I was picking up in Auburn the night before. At least that way I got a good nights sleep.

Not a problem. I'm up around 4 anyways. That time in the morning, on 99 will be a straight, non traffic having, ride. I will more than likely be able to go in April. I will know more in a week.

Thanks for looking out on this issue for us Simple Man.
