Rough Country Flex-Joints worn

You dont get quality and cheap! period wether you are taking about winches or suspension components.

There is a reason why the kit is cheap. Cause corners are cut. this very thread shows that.

Winches... I know quite a bit. not new to wheeling or jeeps for that matter.

lets break down the technical aspects of a few winches and we will compare.......

Oh how incorrect you are. You can get quality at a lower price its called buying power and money management. Rough Country had the highest volume of lift kits sold over any other company, and Rough Country has been in business since 1980 so with large volume purchases and 30 plus years of dealing with vendors it cuts the cost of raw products down. Also you would have to take into consideration cost of overhead and marketing. Rough Country does not have any professional race teams, or sponsorships that has to come off the bottom line.

if one takes all that into consideration then you can see why the prices are lower. Rough Country could not and would not be in business if they sold less than par or poorly made parts. Yes R/C just like every other company has a bad batch but they do what they can to rectify the problem as quick as possible.

Another thing to keep in mind is that most companies buy from the same vendors, so do you think R/C calls said vendor up and is like "hey I need 500 of this part number but make them differently for us then you do for our competitors"?

Lets move on to winches. Do you know how many mfg there are of winches (not whos name is on them" but actual mfg of the winch?

Outside of warn most all other winches are made in the same factory in china but are just private labeled. Am i saying that R/C 300.00 winch is as good as a 1500.00 warn winch NO but not everyone needs a competition winch and most just want one for those random "oh crap" moments.

I think that just about covers it :soapbox: over

thanks
This is what I was looking for!
thank you!

You could wait and see how the new RC joints are. They looked promising, the uppers at least from what I saw in the pictures (the lowers were the same old ones shipped by mistake). Despite my many failures, I do hope the new design/batch works out.

Rough Country is not selling more lifts then anyone else. I have to see pure hard facts on this. Its not happening Ill GUARANTEE it.
Race teams, sponsorships etc. make you money.. period. no one is going to spend more to get less forever. Ill give one fine example... Transamerican....... They sponsor all kinds of stuff... enough said...

You really want me or anyone on this forum to believe that RC has more buying power? Where is the rolling eyes smilie.....

Many companies build all the required parts in house. joints etc. are usually outsourced... which is why I said looks like a summit machine joint.. JUNK... The other company who used them I am aware of or their bottom line joint.. FUll Traction. Another company with hundreds and hundreds of bad bushing complaints. :guitar: Lets take a 6-8" lift made by rough country for an 05-07 Super Duty and one made by another manufacture. heck even the Fabtech. How about a 6" lift for a 00-09 Dodge? same thing. Superlifts kit blows the rough country away. As well as many other companies kits.

Warn does just not make a "competition" winch. They build a winch... that LASTS.. more then one pull. Can you get a good chinese winch, sure :laugh2: would I set my life on being in the middle of no where by myself and need it to work and not work... hell no. Im not walking in to find help in 115 degree heat. Ill take a proven system EVERY TIME!!

All winches could be made by the same company in china that puts out these crap winches. but they are made to a companys specs. that is why you see a trickle down effect on these winches.

Figured I would also ad in that Hecketthorn I believe through research has an annual revenue of only about $5 million. Over your 30 years that is if you were pulling those numbers every year which Heckethorn def was not... you have a gross lifetime revenue of roughly a generous $200 million.

Transamericans parent company has 1.5 BILLION in cash reserves... yes cold hard cash. Oh, by the way I do not endorse, use, or like Transamerican or their companies....

Rough country isn't for everyone but it's a decent and certainly better than say.. Rustys!
"there's a butt for every seat" as the saying goes!

coueshunter, Agian I ask... SHOW ME lift kits that compair to RCs 4.5" lift. for around $1000 that has as much if not MORE parts?

RC X-Flex kit with forum discount ~$800 + ~$200 for new joints, $1000

-Full leaf packs
-Coil Springs
-Shocks
-upper adjustable control arms
-lower adjustable control arms
-brake lines (front AND rear)
-discos
-u-bolts
-track bar
-t-case drop

No one is going to argue that RC has had 'issues' with their joints, Still... Buy the kit, pay MORE money for different joints and you're still with one of the most complete kits out there for the money. Mine rides great, It goes down the freeway and down the trail just fine. I'm comfortable and happy to have money left in my pocket.

So, coueshunter, please, show me some links to others kits?

Superlift? Now that's funny.

Coueshunter, just for your information I bought this kit and had to install Johnny Joints just because I wanted a good and reliable joint. For the 1000 dollars I don't think you can get much better!!! For one, you get a #### load of stuff for a great price. I mean, yeah you can go spend 2500 dollars on a short arm kit from other companies or you can spend 1000 and spend the rest on other upgrades. RC makes a great kit and most other companies do not have the customer service that RC has, end of discussion!

lets break down arm material, thickness etc. there are a ton more factors then just "joints" to making a kit.k

You cannot include a discount in a kit price. If a company cannot make a kit with joints that last... what else will turn up?

The reason that every other kit is priced more is because to make a proper long lasting kit it has to be priced more...

I think if there were failures in the arms, we'd of heard about it by now.

Actually, I can include what I want into whatever conversation I'm having. And 30 years in the business,... If an issue was going to turn up, I think it would have by now.

The reason that every other kit is priced more is because to make a proper long lasting kit it has to be priced more...

So by your own words, EVERY OTHER KIT IS PRICED MORE.
Thanks for clearing that up.

You know what i think? I think you're just a tool bag looking for something to argue about. You still cannot back up your own claims that there are MANY kits out there that are comparable. All you do is beat around the bush and try to mis direct the debate into something it is not, like talking about the economic backgrounds of other companies and winches.
Seriously guy, find a more healthy way to spend your time.

COUESHUNTER must be friends with our president, becuase he beats around the bush just as much

I am in retail and you can discount whatever you damn well please! For instance, you can like the customer, if they had a complaint you can discount it, or if you have more than one person buying the same thing you can include a discount. So stop talking trash just becuase you dont like something! Grow up and post things that really need to be discussed. We are not in highschool anymore! Its people like you that make other people not like forums. It gets quite annoying hearing someone B**** about something that has already been discussed hasta

So..... Why did this become a pissing match with someone (no saying names) that clearly has an opinion about RC and there product? Sure RC has had a few bugs in the flex joints that i must say have taken care of every one of us in making it right.

I have recieved a complete set of uppers and lower rebuild bushings and these look and feel much better than the last batches they had. I can only hope that the perform and last longer than the rest and if they do... Thanks RC for taking the time to figure it out and makeing it right!!!

AGAIN I said lets compare! Not comparable for the price Lets compare this kit to every other kit... not just component for component but materials, manufacture as well.

you already see corners being cut on bushings.. who is making the springs for them? Wait.. not a reputable company is it?

show me one instance where I beat around the bush.... just one please...

your right, you can discount but you cannot take that as the "going" price it may not be available to everyone all the time. hell I can get discounts to. in fact I can get way better kits for cheaper with MY discounts. But that does not count trying to compare apples to apples..... Ill keep going rate from a dealer to dealer

Forgive me but I'm getting tired of seeing this thread where this 1 dude is bashing a company, just get over it and move on!

I never bashed a company. I bashed the crappy kit. Case in point... youll need new joints.

That kit represents a company......

I guess no matter what happens with a product customer service makes up for EVERYTHING
