Rough Country Flex-Joints worn

Crap man Im sorry I didnt see this earlier this week. Not sure how it happened but you somehow manage to get shipped the new upper bushings but the same old lowers. I truly apologize and I will send you a set of the new style lower joint bushings out next day air. Again Im not sure why you were shipped them. Please give me a call at 800-222-7023 ext 115 so I can get them coming to you.

I appreciate it Jason, but I just ordered a set from Currie. I'd rather spend $200 and know it's going to be right then 'hope' the new stuff will be right.

My advice would be to talk to Currie and see if you guys at RC can get some sort of bulk rate discount and sell your control arms with them installed instead of the X-flex deals... They simply don't last.

This. Up the price of your kit if you have to cuz the quality will improve dramatically. People will pay the little extra knowing they got some of the best joints on their arms. (and will be relieved that it wont' take an hour to screw in the upper arm joints with their 10 foot shank LOL).

when the parts and quality is on par wih others everyone will go with others. The others have a history, reputation, quality etc, RC couldnt say in business if they did that!

I'm actually very happy with the rest of my RC lift. The joints are the only thing I have an issue with. Springs front and rear ride nice on and off road, heck, the kit even comes with a track bar, discos, and brake lines front and rear. hard to beat how complete the kit is... I'd of paid an extra $200 if the kit had already come with JJs. No problem.

Changing out the joints isn't a big deal, it's just like mowing the yard, or doing the dishes, it's not hard, I just don't wanna do it.

that's an interesting statement, but I'm curious, what other kits are out there for $1000 price range that have all the stuff that RC has in theirs?

just a question for grimus(jason, is it?). i just ordered an x-lex 4.5" kit, it landed on a plane yesterday in vancouver. will this kit have the new bushings you are testing out or still the old? just wanna know if i am gonna have to swap out bushings shortly after installing the lift.

also, to guys who have experienced this. is the drive-ability of the jeep compromised in any serious way when these joints go? or is it more of an annoyance? i ask because my jeep is my work truck(carpenter), so i need it running or i lose money fast.

thx.

It's just an annoyance. Nothing is compromised majorly, except for maybe a teeny tiny bit of caster change if the upper joints go. The most play I've had in any of the MANY bad joints was 1/16". If you do mostly highway driving then it will not bother ya much but if you take backroads and city roads with bumps, be prepared for the hammer guy who shows up and starts hammering the underside of your jeep on every bump. :)

I just finished installing the Currie Johnny Joints on my 4.5" RC x-flex lift...

Hey, I didn't know Cherokees were made by Cadilac?? My shit is smoother than a gravy sandwich! This is how this kit should have been sold from the get go.

For those of you thinking about buying a lift kit, the RC kit is a good kit. The price can't be beat for what you get in the kit... Just toss out the ball joints and order the ones from Currie. You'll still be around $1000 and it's worth it.

tell me about it. I usually take my car to work but I can't stop driving the jeep. So nice now. I also installed some nitro shocks in place of the leaking 2.2's so it's a whole lot better, even on the bad roads. I do have a double-clunk coming from the RC sway bar disconnects. Apparently they've worn out at the ball-n-socket joint. It wasn't really apparent before but now it's totally obvious since I installed poly bushings on the main bar. Another part to replace....

LOTS!

Lets start with cheap joints... tubing size, material used and angles used. crossmember properly designed, brake lines that are not cheap ones, I will challeneger anyone to lay out a comprable kit to a RC kit side by side and start comparing.

Hell, a $300 winch is suppose to be as good as a $1k winch :roflmao: they "look" the same......

So what kit in the same price range do you feel is comparable?? I would also like to know what kit you feel is the best regardless of price with the same lift height and arm config???

Also just how much do you know about the industry of winches????

You dont get quality and cheap! period wether you are taking about winches or suspension components.

There is a reason why the kit is cheap. Cause corners are cut. this very thread shows that.

Winches... I know quite a bit. not new to wheeling or jeeps for that matter.

lets break down the technical aspects of a few winches and we will compare.......

i'll bite. what's the lowdown on the recon 10, 500lb winch with synthetic line? it can be had for $430 and get's positive reviews everywhere i look. why should i not buy it?

i am asking seriously too. i am no winch expert, i go by reviews. after thorough research this seems like a good buy. please tell me why it's not?

also, to update, i did receive my lift. i paid $829 for a 4.5" x-flex kit, including an adj trackbar, swaybar discos, t-case drop kit, new brake lines, new coils, new leaf packs and new adj lower/upper control arms. from the pics posted a few pages back it appears i have received the new bushings from rough country. i plan on installing it next weekend, and i will see how it goes. but even if i do have to get johnny joints it is still far cheaper than any other alternative. the only other problem point my research has revealed is the trackbar, and i am not sure which one that is.

also, rock solid customer service is something to consider as well. i know, it doesn't matter if the product sucks.....but RC seems to be trying to correct know issues. all i know is right now i am happy, ask me a year from know and i may or may not have a different opinion.
