Rough Country drop bracket install w/ pics

i know these drop brackets will help remedy the steep angle on my rusty's lower arms ......but will it help straighten out the coil ?? I don't have a pic but after my rusty's 4.5 " lift I added a spacer of 1.75" but the coil looks like a banana and bows outward towards the front bumper and rubs the bumpstop often !!!

Yes. Your already too short lower arms put the axle at an angle, messing up your caster. If you have adjustable lowers then you can fine tune it and get it just right.

thanks for the response !! so would i benifite more if i had adjustable lowers and not fixed lowers with these brackets ??

Adjustable lowers are best but you can use fixed as well. The brackets have an adjustment caster slot so you can adjust the caster. I ran the brackets with stock arms for a while and then upgraded to RC's flex arms to get everything perfect.

muddeprived - I have to say, that looks like you're itching to rip the grease zerks off on a rock... though I suspect you prefer mud from the username. Personally I'd flip them around and live with the difficulty of greasing them.

Yeah I know. I was worried about it but four trail rides later and they are still there. I no longer run the drop brackets so they aren't in the danger zone anymore.

If you think the ride is better with the drop brackets, you should add the HD Offroad Engineering shackle relocators for the rear. I was running just drop brackets, but my rear still rode kind of rough. After adding those the things rides 10x better.

Mine's pretty darn soft out back. I'm running old man emu 2" HD springs with two old man emu aal's and 2" shackles. I think the shackles flatten the leaves a little making it soft.

I guess I cannot run the drop brackets because of my HD offroad Eng frame stiffeners. I guess they will not mount properly...crap!

i think i need to do this.

Depends on how much the frame stiffners cover. THe brackets bolt into the control arm pockets. The upper arms have this small boomerang type bracket that bolts on the inside upper framerail. The support bracket bolts on the rear of the drop bracket but isn't absolutely necessary to run and can be drilled onto the frame stiffner and still work. Got pictures of your frame stiffeners installed near the control arms?

Or avoid this extra work and wait for Rough Country's long arm to be released within a few weeks.

Mine won't be tall enough to need drop brackets but I think I will eventually add a 3/4 inch spacer up front and drive down to Brians and get a set of Shackle relocators to help smooth out the ride.

I have mine mounted on top of 3/16" thick homemade frame stiffeners with no problems at all. Don't think they are really an issue. Just makes for a stronger install.

Is anyone running the drop brackets with a Rubicon Express 4.5in superflex kit?
I just installed the brackets, now my coil rubs the factory track bar frame mount and my springs hit the swaybar.
Just wondering if anyone else has had this problem?

My springs were hitting the sway bar too, but not the track bar frame mount. I have the RE HD track bar mount. I put the RE sway bar drop brackets on and that cleared up the sway bar rubbing, but I adjusted my caster this weekend and it looks like that "unbowed" the springs some and I may be able to get away without the sway bar drop brackets. I'm going to pull them this weekend and see.

Got any pictures?

I had my sway bar hitting the coils with my drop brackets but caster and wheelbase adjustment plus longer sway bar links fixed it.

Does anyone know if you have to have adjustable control arms with the drop bracket kit from rough country. I have the RC 4.5 inch lift with 2" front spacers.. making it about 6-7 inches of lift. The 4.5 inch kit came with longer replacement lower control arms but Do I need an adjustable upper to use this kit?

Anybody on this thread want to sell a set of these RC drop brackets that they are not using anymore? I am also looking for the adjustable control arms too!
