Rough Country drop bracket install w/ pics

I've dropped on the hard enough to bend the bracket a little but the mounting is fine.
I'm not worried about the little bend and stand by these brackets, if it did bother me I could hammer it back. LCAs still removable.

ancient Trailmaster DB's without any reinforcement (built before anyone was offering the extra support) and they've seen a few hazards-- nothing I'd call major, but they've held up like a champ. I'm contemplating reinforcements (and would recommend them for anyone with a heavy foot on rocks) but can't bring myself to "fix" something that hasn't given me any reason to.

I've decided to remove my brackets. I took it wheeling twice in two months and both times I was getting hung up and banging them on stuff that other people just walked right over. I'm only at 4" so I guess I don't need em that badly.

have you got the reinforcements too? I'm fixin' to put another toy together and could use them-- How much you want for all of it?

I got the rough country brackets with the dimpy RCX support bracket. My gf gave me this kit for my b-day so I'm not sure if I want to sell it. I may need it in the future if I got alot higher than 4". I dunno yet....

here's a question for those of you who have the DB's. What type of wheeling do you primarily do. My home park is Rausch Creek and I'd like to know if anyone has had an issue with drop brackets hanging up on anything

I run the RC brackets and do rocks out here in the desert from time to time. Never got hung up on them. I'm about to go to the Rockkrawler Triple Threat (I think that's what it is called). That setup looks awesome.

5 or so inches of lift, OME springs/ACOS and JKS control arms, 32s FWIW....never an issue...

I run 6 inches of lift on 35's with the drop brackets, I do lots of rocks (my home parks are superlift ORV in hot springs, and Barnwell Mountain in Gilmer). Never really have had any problems hanging up on them.

I've got the trailmaster DB's and the RE braces. You can make it work.

I'd like to hear from more ppl that run in rocks and have DBs.. i've already decided i need DBs so that's not the issue (5.5" of lift and very poor ride/flex.. lca angles too steep). seems to me the people that complain about DBs hanging up all the time have smaller tire diameters.. i plan to put 35s on my rig in the near future when our little group goes to the rubicon. i haven't found anyone yet who had hanging issues with 35s so this is good news to me.

I run 33s @5.5" lift and DBs. I have hit them on rocks, but haven't been held up because of them yet. I'm not hardcore by any stretch. I run greens and blues, with the occasional black sections at Rausch Creek. The XJ spends most of it's time on the road and before the DBs it rode awful. I can live with the occasional rock hits on the trail for the much improved ride on road.

That's probably true. I run 31's with 4". My buddy has 33's at 7" and he has a TON more clearance under the brackets than I do. You can barely tell he's running brackets.

Definitely better with bigger tires going from 30" to 33" has made a great improvement.
It's possible to get hung up on anything if you don't pick lines right.

Does anybody know if the Rough Country drop brackets work on ZJ Grand Cherokee's? I always thought the control arms and mounts were identicle to XJ's but the Rough Country site lists XJ only.

Was talking to a guy with a ZJ and pretty extreme control arm angles, front and rear, although I don't think the rear matters and these won't fit in the rear.......but the front, anybody know for sure before I recommend him to buy them for his rig?

In short, yes, they'll fit, though the NAGCA guys are pretty hard on em...

My 01 XJ has about 4-1/4" or so lift, I installed the drop brackets last week, Install was easy (Except for the 2 Upper control arm bolts I snapped, I ended up ordering the replacements from Bolt warehouse, Shipped Overnight :confused1).
The ride is insanely better!! One of the best investments you can make on a lifted XJ !

i know these drop brackets will help remedy the steep angle on my rusty's lower arms ......but will it help straighten out the coil ?? I don't have a pic but after my rusty's 4.5 " lift I added a spacer of 1.75" but the coil looks like a banana and bows outward towards the front bumper and rubs the bumpstop often !!!
