So I was at my local clubs Meet and Greet (PNWJeep.com) at a spot called Evans Creek, it's a pretty mellow ORV trail system but it's fun none the less. Last time I was at Evans I had smaller tires, smaller lift, less armor, no locker/LSD, and no gears. Basically a year ago it was a totally different rig. Well this year I got to do nearly all of the trails there (the harder ones anyhow) and was doing great, I was the only guy in my group to not have any damage the whole day on several trails. Well we decided to run an easy trail (called 311 for the locals) just before heading to camp for the club sponsored dinner. In the process there's a spot with two huge mud holes on the right and a go around on the left. I took the go around and parked just before the pit's exit. One of the rigs I was with went in both mud pits and ended up getting stuck in the furthest right, so I offered to yank him out (as I'd just yanked out another rig in a different mud pit and had all my straps ready). Well this is the short part, I cranked the wheel to make a big loop so I could back up to pull him out but not only totally forgot about the mud pit (probably 5ft deep and straight down-ish) but I didn't see it. My tire hit the edge, and from then on out I was just along for the ride.
I'm very lucky I had EVERYTHING in the back of my rig of decent size strapped down, as it all became air born in my direction. I'm also very happy everyone I was with was around to help getting my right side up possible. It was upside down for about 30-60 minutes (I wasn't keeping track) and the damage was two popped beads on the passenger side, pillar damage, door destroyed, windshield cracked, roof smashed, and a JCR slider was ripped off. Now I'm in the market for a new rig to swap it all, and once I get it I might do a hack job on this rig just for fun.
