Roller Camshafts for the 4.0

Mmmm. My whole stroker build only cost a little more than that. Then again I'm not surprised the cost is so high given the very small number of cams that'll be ground.
 
So have you gotten 6 of them going? I'd love to rolerize a stroker but it sure looks like something that'll never be cost effective.

For small power gains there are lots of better mods that cost a tiny fraction, for large power gains their are WAY better mods like forced induction and stroking...

For reliability well... you can buy a lot of used 100k+ mile perfectly running stock 4.0's for that kind of cash... like 5 or 6 of them at 200 bucks each :)
 
I have never, said that it would be cheep. I now that these cam will only be practical for a few People.

Just waiting for the word to travel far and wide, and see if we get ( 6 ) people to do this.......or not.
Maybe Joe would make a batch with a lower number, but I'm done trying to sell this GRATE idea.;)

Props to you Flash for trying in the first place. I'm sure the high price is simply down to the production cost being divided by a very small number of units. If there's a prospect that the price would come down quite a bit if you could get at least 20 people interested in a group buy, maybe others would follow.
There are many in the Jeep community who would love to have a roller cam (including me) but are baulking at the price.

A touch pricey, but if I can get the grind I want, I like it.
 
Nick has one on order. That's basically in the price range of the blank we were gonna have to buy and then pay roto-faze to grind when you add the accessories.
 
Thats what 505 Performance said, as well as the fact that a cast roller cams won't have a long life to begin with due to the roller profile combined with a stiffer spring. More pressure on the cam lobe on the small roller foot print.
 
Interesting.

Although, the "reported cam failures" on the strokers list tend to have been caused by the new SM "Energy Saving" engine oil - and the near-total elimination of organometallic antiscuff additives that are required by flat tappet valvetrains. This isn't the fault of the cam - it's the fault of the oil (and, by extension, the EPA.)
