Rockport offroad park IL

I just read somewhere Rockport was open over there again but i guess not from what other people are saying I guess they closed the one by Springfield.

I have always found that site to be difficult to use. Even worse is the http://rorp,com page- No explaination. There are too many flashy lights and logos and nothing is easy to get at. But, we don't pay them to keep a website, do we ;)

Then I did get to the Hannibil Rocks calendar http://www.rorp.com/Events/2008/calendar/calendar_HR_01.html

I guess I haven't figured out how to read this.
Are they open 363 days like The Badlands, cause I couldn't find that?
Only events for January is the New Years ride.

I see that ATVs and dirtbikes are banned from the Rockport site, but "trail bikes" and side-bysides (ATVs ?) are allowed, as well as Jeep type vehicles.
But, are they open 363 days a year, or is it only by appointment?
I know there was some mention of the Rockport-off-site trails, but those have always been by appointment.

Anybody intimately knowledgable about the park able to answer the Time/availability questions?

how are side-bysides, like a mule and a ranger much different than ATVs? maybe because of the wider stance i guess. and the trail bike thing....

It is by appointment only which means they are open most weekends. Not all !
They seem to be geared more towards offroad events with spectators than actual trail riding.

What's up New Bob?

anyways, Bob is right, the Hannibal Rocks is usually open, but not always.
The bikes they allow are Trial bikes, no dirt bikes or atv's. I believe this is because the majority of the new park is a rock quarry with limited trails.

They will open the original Rockport site if you have a large group, though they don't have as much land there as they used too-the reason they closed it down. They lost the "Back 40" and "Tall Dog" portions-hand shake deal that went bad.
Very dissappointing as Rockport was a great place for atv's and dirt bikes.

Tom and Deb sold the RORP due to the back 40 deal going bad. They bought the property now called Hannibal Rocks-just south of Hannibal, MO, and they are building it up to be what they wanted RORP to be. Check out this site- www.midwestjeepthing.com go to the forums section, and look at the trail head area. Lots of talk and time for rides there, but I don't think they reopen until Feb, or correct me if I am wrong. Tom and Deb work with MWJT and offer times and trail building during their off time. Check it out.
