Rock rail mounting

So my buddy says he can make me some rock rails, and save me some bucks. I shoot him some pics of JKS Supernerfs, he says no problem. Then we start discussing the mounting. I'm wanting to make life easier for him. I suggest, instead of running a couple bolts through the pinch seam, why not just sit the square tube right up against it, and throw a couple stich welds on there and call it done. So, that is what we did. Should I be concerned about that in any way? I've not seen anyone else do this, and it just seems too simple? Be warned, the pinch seam DOES NOT RUN PARALLEL to the side of the truck  . My rails now have a slight taper, front to back. I saved enough bucks, and it's never going to be a show rig to not worry about it.
Thanks for the input.

PS. I know they will have to be cut off to be removed, but we had to weld them to the T&J Chassis stiffener too!

You still have stingers to the "frame" right? I would drill some holes in the pinch weld and put some rosette welds in.
Yup, got 3 round tubes from chassis stiffeners over to square tube rails. Do you really think the rosettes are needed? I'm figuring stitch welds, with good penetration, there are four, would hold it, since it is also welded to the chassis stiffener rails?
Thanks for the input. I'll see about pics.

Well as long as you have the stingers the stitch welds should be fine. These are across the bottom right? between the pinch seam and the rail.

I welded both my cross tubes to the Unibody
and I thouight bout doin pinch seam that way
and didi the dtingers that way
but I ffigured if I have to remove one for some reason I would rater grind on the unibody thatn the pinch seams

I'm just about finished with my set.

Yeah, the frame rails aren't parallel with the body sides, either. The rear support is 3/4" longer than the front suppport.

To get it positioned right, I clamped to the frame rail, bolted the support piece to the pinch seam, get everything positioned, then tacked it. Removeded it and finished the welds.

Personally, don't like welding to the unibody.

I want pics and info on price. :D
