So basically everyone is telling me that my jeep wont start cause of the CPS being bad. I have had a ton of people look at so im convinced. I know where its at but i can only get one bolt off and the other just seems impossible. Is there a trick to getting it off? or am i doing something wrong? any help would be greatly appreciated

Long extensions and a universal worked for me.

Before you put the next one on cut out the bottom of the bolt holes so you can leave the bolts in and slide it on and off.

Ya, what he said.

I had a no-start one time, thought it was the CPS, but it was the little magnet in the distributor had come loose. Found that after I replaced the CPS.

I have small girly hands and was able to reach right in there and turn the bolt with a ratchet...I think. Maybe a small box wrench.

I had a no-start one time, thought it was the CPS, but it was the fact that I didn't turn the key enough to go to the starter position. :dunce:

Hey guys - Exactly where is the CPS Located? I had mine and my wifes replaced, both under warranty at the stealership (no start issues) and it fixed the problem.

Thanks.....

its a PITA to get to..

Just a heads up. i replaced my CPS and it still wouldnt start. but once i unhooked my ECU and then hooked it back up, it fired right up

Dude you have an '89, which is a RENIX. Most likely your problem is the "Renix Killer" as 5-90 would put it ,which is your ground strap that runs from your firewall to the back on the engine. My '89 wouldn't start, thought it was the CPS but it was that stupid strap. It gets all burnt up and withered and doesn't do it's job. It will not let your Jeep start if it is in bad shape. Super easy fix. That would be my first place to start...

Ummm... I'm going to leave that one alone:) He hasn't got it started. That was someone else with the same avatar, saying ECU reset helped.
