Replacing an old cage with a hybrid - HD Offroad Engineering

The placement of the tube above the windshield was intended to hopefully protect the windshield and keep the tube close to the body.

The fender tubes should be completely covered...the A pillar tubes will require the normal slot in the top of the fender.

Wow - just noticed...I think I hit 1000 posts in this thread. Only took 8 years!

There is a plate sandwiching the floor with the B pillar foot plate. By design, the foot plate is directly above one of the connectors from my 2x6 rockers to the plated frame rails. There are then just small tabs welded in place to attach each side of the connector to the lower foot plate. The A pillars welded to the rocker are the other tie ins to the unibody.

this is my biggest thing i wanted to know what i was gonna do when i built my cage!!! i love this idea (been going to replace the rockers with sliders)

Thanks

This looks awesome.

I think I'd like mine to be roughly the same thing on the interior.

and copy the front tubing down the A-pillar and the like.

not to hijack, but what do you think of changing the tube at the fender to be more like a tube fender? I think the fenders on the MJ are going away forever.

If the fenders are leaving anyway, you could easily position the tube(s) to allow for some sheet metal to be mounted (or not). Just raise the rear portion of my fender tube and make the tube follow the hood and out through the front clip.

That's what I was thinking, just move the fender tube to follow the hoodline. Then just kick a tube out from there to cover the tire a little. Skin with some sheetmetal, or this rubber conveyor belt stuff I have laying around.

There was one in the advanced mod thread that did something similar. The xj was like a desert tan color.

honestly I'll just tell Brian what I'd like and if that's what I get sweet, if not, sweet.

If he builds it, then it will be sweet.

Uh oh. Brian might be mad you are showing me this. After he fabs my xmember and does my stiffeners this just might be next.
