X2, good solid stuff! (and we don't sell it so that's not bias!)

As far as the remote turn on, that is hooked to the correct wire.
I agree with trail rate this on checking for stray strands on the power wire at the amp that may have shorted the remote input.

Other than that, it sounds like it may be in the amp itself, such as a bad internal relay (although it would be odd for it to be stuck on vs off).

If you have a multimeter, you can check for voltage on the remote lead when the radio is off to rule that out. You can also use a test light for this, but make sure it isn't one that draws more than 500mA or you can damage the deck.

If (when disconnected from the amp) there isn't any voltage on the remote lead with the deck off, it has to be something at the amp end.
If there is voltage with the deck off, there is either a problem in the deck, or the remote wire is spliced into constant power somewhere else for some strange reason.

Anyone need any extra X-mas cash? Otherwise I'll prolly just end up going back to Freeman's :(

I have offered you help a couple of times on different occasions but you have just ignored me!

There must have been some kind of miscommunication b/c I thought you didn't want to help because of the power draw issue...my bad

Well the offer still stands but i cant make any promises I can just go through it to the best of my ability and try to figure out this problem. The only thing is I cant get to it till the new year. But I will have to talk to you about the issue and see it in action.
