I know there are probably a few hundred places, all different pricing.

WHO in the Chicago area will do a D30 and a C8.25 regear to 4.56 and DO IT RIGHT without raping me on the price?? I supply the rebuild kits and gears!

I'm no gear-head and this is one mod I don't think should be done by an amateur no matter how many "awesome tools" he has in his Dad's garage!

Anyone?

I've had good service from Wally at Vefron in Bridgeview. 708-598-1890

Maybe not the cheapest, but he is damn good. 5 gear sets, NP205 and D60 rebuilds - all worked flawlessly. As long as your parts are not cheap junk, he should be fine with using them.

If you want anything other than a WAG, give him a call...

pick up the phone and call. Wally will also want to know what brand of gears and install kit you intend to use, if it's low quality parts he won't put his name on the install.

Well mine was a replacment of a Dana 35 air locker, so it was more than just a re-gear. The numbers escape me at the moment...but I am thinking about $400...that may be high.

I live here in the city and the most reasonable price and quailty work by far is Chicago transmissions and diff's. They are located 3016 N. Cicero ave. Chicago, It's been a family bussiness for about 65 years. Phone is 773-427-6100.....Had my front-end re-done after a side impact. I believe the priceing is as follows: D30 $140 and you the supply the gears and seals and bearings. The D44's where $150 and you supply parts. You don't have to buy shim kits, he supplies that with the install.
Hope this helps

OK! Don't shop for price but for quailty and again this guys does it all! but don't take my word! I have only use this guy for over 25 yrs. myself.

That's my plan... I have no intention of nickle and diming it. Just trying to get costs so I can plan. I want a REAL PRO doing this, not just a mechanic. Too easy to f**k things up big time and $$$$$$$.

I'm regearing my D30 and C8.25 from 3.55 to 4.56. I'm getting Rusty's gear package for $399. They are gears from Superior A&G and the price includes overhaul kits. Decent price and all together.

Need to do all this before I go to 33's. Don't wanna burn up the trans. I plan on Parnelli Jones Dirt Grippers or Trxus MT's. Depends on the condition of my wallet at the time.

A shackle in the back and RE4.5' coils in the front and I'll be done. (I'm measuring 4.5" NOW with the RE 3.5 lift. It settled very little.)

NO MORE MONEY AFTER THAT, I'm saving for a Rubi Unlimited, then I can start all over again... sort of!!! :laugh3:

we gave you the name of a top notch shop.
we even gave you the phone number.

can't YOU pick up the phone?

I don't have time to be digging through receipts because you don't feel like picking up the phone.
