Reese omni II 88001 hitch

I was at the local pick and pull today looking for a hitch. I found a Reese omni II but it was on an earlier style Cherokee (couldn't get the door open to look at year). It is an 1 1/4" reciever rated for 3500 lbs. I was wondering if this is a decent hitch, if there are any advantages or disadvantages to it not being 2", and if it will fit my later body style 98. Thanks

IMO, hold out for a factory hitch. I don't know the Reese but if's anything like the little one that came on the '89 about all it was good for was keeping the bumper from falling off because the brackets were so rusted.

If you ever need one for recovery, the hitch factory style that ties into the frame is the only inexpensive way to go.

AFIK, all the factory hitches interchange, I now have a '99 hitch on the '89. You will need to get a "nut strip" for the drivers side though.
