Red Rocket

Sounds pretty much the same as before, i used the same glass pack i had, but the Flowmaster cat gives it a little deeper tone. Yours has still got me beat by a mile ;) I'm only at 4.2 lol

And thanks Joe!

Being involved in something where other people are relying on my rig gets me motivated!

Started my tcase skid yesterday, should have it done today.

Transfer case skid is done.

I drilled and tapped the back of my Clayton cross member, which is 1/4" 2x4 box tubing. And then I just doubled up some angle iron back to back and used 1/4" plate to extend out to cover the transfer case. Then I took some angle iron and ran it along yet edge of the plate to give it more resistance to bending, and then added a couple gussets.

Test fitting before paint and gussets. Leaves about half an inch between the lowest point of the transfer case and the skid

I was gonna run a support from the back edge of it to the frame rail, but with the gussets and angle on the sides I don't see it flexing too much. It's attached with 4 3/8-16 grade 8 bolts. If I do happen to bend those or break or anything I'll just drill it out and tap for a bigger bolt and then add a brace

I'd keep an eye on the tapped holes on the cross member, 1/4" isn't gonna give a lot of material for bolts to thread too, especially if you land on it hard. Just a caution to look out for

Agreed, but what the hell, if it gotta retap it bigger later and add a brace oh well :D

Thanks guys! I'm slowly running out of projects to do.... :(

I hear it is too :D

I got some work done on my jeep. Can't give away all the secrets yet, but here's the start of my gas can holder

Gotta make a locking strap over the top tomorrow

Been a little while since I updated. Ended up losing my ac compressor during the trophy challenge so I ended up buying a bypass pulley to put in place because I was running short on time Friday night and didn't want to miss the no roads required show. When I was taking the old compressor out, the two rear bolts broke, so I gotta drill those out next time I feel like doing mechanics work. But for now the bypass pulley is working just fine

I finally got around to installing the flush mount fog lights I got from a member on here a while back. Thanks Joe!

Started by doing some not so precise measuring

Played connect the dots with the sawzall and jig saw.

Drilled some bolt homes and did a little rework of the welds on the tube and then mounted the light. Repeat on the other side

Here's the light pattern, I might adjust them out a little. I like having these pointed down though cause I can have them on while I'm city driving and not blind oncoming drivers or cars in front of me.

I hated having my license plate up there, as that was never part of my original plan. I just got lazy and never did the hinged bracket after I finished the bumper so I did that last night as well.

Next up is wiring those, and adding my flood lights that will mount on top of the fairlead.

Wow its been a while since I've updated this. Haven't really made any big changes or progress. I've been slowly working on trying to iron out all the small things. Oil leaks, driveablility issues, interior stuff, all the little nuances. Most recently I've been researching how to measure pinion angle and caster angle and where each should be at. I have a super bad vibration when I get up about 50 and I've been trying to narrow the list down. One of the last things I had to check/correct is pinion angle. I had the time to mess around today, so I got my pinion angle straightened out. I wanted to get it as close as I could to zero, disregarding my caster, to see if it helped the vibrations and then I would work my way back down to help driveablility.
