Recovery gone bad...

i think he was talking about the super duty when he said that^^

yeah, the guy wasn't even trying in the full clip to pull him in reverse. just simple 1 foot tugs, he wasn't giving anywhere near the pulling power as the jerks he did going forward. Plus, it's almost ALWAYS easier to pull somebody out the way they came in. It's rare that there are ruts blocking both axles (although I know of a few spots).

I don't think he had an appropriate recovery spot in the rear, so they had the rope around one of the shackles. Maybe they had some sense to not pull too hard from there. Either way, poor XJ. :spin1:

My first thought and tip after watching the long video. They could have pulled from way closer. This would have put way less snap or jerk in the line, which is good and bad. Also they could have backed the super junk way closer. They are making a very flat pull. Closer or near the edge would have given them 3 or more feet upward, making it 7 to 9 feet up from the xj bumper.

Also did the front wheels ever spin in the choker? Sure didn't sound like 4 low in my opnion.

just a drunk guys opinion

Big Hank, over and out

Man that must have sucked. What would have been the proper recovery method for it. Maybe dig out that front wheel first and then pull?

call a wrecker with crane capibilities. when ya XXXX up sometimes its best to just pay to have it done right
when i saw the title of the post i thought it was gonna be the one where someone tried a side pull on a tj by hooking to the rollbar, they pulled the body off the frame:nono:

Hmm, ya its nice to pay over a grand for a wrecker with a crane to come out and get you, when all they had to do was take a little time and dig the vehicle out. The wrecker could have very well done the same thing, and you would still be screwed.

I used to work at an offroad beach, and as soon as a tow truck had to leave pavement, the bill jumped up to ridiculous amounts. One of our employees managed to get one of our trucks stuck on a back trail, and we had to get a wrecker to get it out. He knew the guy who owned the company well, so he only charged us $250. I looked at the bill when he dropped it off, it was originally going to cost $1,300.

Wow... Thats just one of those sounds you hope you never hear coming from your jeep. Like said before, looks like all you had to do was snatch it hard from the rear a few times. Whatever... That was retarded waist of a cherokee.

I just keep wondering why they didn't pull him out from where the dude wearing the armor was?? How much you wanna bet that they were pulling him with tow straps and not recovery straps also...

Stupid stupid stupid.
But hey, not every one has the nurturing and guidance of NAXJA to help them learn how to recover their rig instead of drag home a mangled corpse of an XJ.
