reconnecting the a/c lines

after changing the heater core and having to discharge the system, i used quick disconnect lil plastic pieces to seperate the a/c lines! but for the life of me i cant get them back together again!!!!! is there some sought of trick or tool to getting these things back together?
also since its winter is it safe for me to use my new heater core for heat and defrosting the fogging windows without recharging my a/c system because i dont have the money for it right now!!!!
Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!! thanks

I think you can press them back together. I had to replace the condenser on my 2000, I think they just need a lot of pressure to go back together.

Push and wiggle and they will click back together

thanks thats exactly what i had to do!!! took slot of pressure! just incase someone else needs to know
