I get some mixed info when I look/ask for new rims at my local shops. I am lifting my XJ 4.5" with a RC long arm kit, and want to move up to 32x11 on some 16s. What has been "recommended" to me is a 16x8 with 4.5 or 5 inch backspacing. I've been told by other people/shops that I need 3 or 3.5 inch backspacing. Any help is greatly appreciated.

A 32x11 seems an odd tire. I thought they only came in a 10.50",12.50" wide and so on? maybe thats all i've ever searched for. LOL. IDK? I've been wrong before.

4.5/5" BS is stock back spacing.. Pretty easy to get when buying new rims. Hell any BS is easy to get if they wanna do the leg work and search for them. 4.5/5" with a 12.50" wide tire will rub the lower control arm at full lock and maybe even at full stuff. The less the BS. The more strain you start putting on the unit bearings. Causing them to ware sooner.
I run a 3.75" BS with my RC long arms and have no problems with it rubbing anywhere. I run a 33x12.50x15 and like how wide the stance is.

I have 265/75/16's which come out to around a 32x11 and 16x8 inch wheels with 4.5" backspacing. The tires don't rub the control arms at all and stick out about a 1/4-1/2 inch past the fender flares. I think it is perfict. Stock backspacing is 5.25.

what rim do you have? if you have moabs, backspacing is 5.0"

i went with a 285/75R16 (about a 33x11.50) and felt i needed to add a spacer to clear the leafs. the 1.5" spacer i added from rough country (cheapest i could find) put me at 3.5" of backspacing. you hould be alright with 4.0" though. ive seen 35x12.50s ran on 4.0".

Perfect. That is the size and exactly what i an wanting to do.
I want the Ultra Maverick Wheels (black with machined lip)http://www.tirerack.com/upgrade_gar...=Maverick&wheelFinish=Machined+w/Black+Accent

I was hoping that with the lift and the right backspacing I could get the wide stance look. I'll look into some 4" to 4.5" backspacing. Awesome help :yelclap:

smaller rim/larger tire sizes are becoming harder to find. Also, the bigger rims you have, the rougher the ride and touchier the steering. I learned that with 18s on my Ranger. These will be for my "pavement glory" and not see the rocks. I have my stock 15" steeliesfor that.

I'm running 16x8s with a 285/75r16 on them because I got a good price on the tires. That, and I can easily put them on 8 lug rims I got for free when I swap in my hd44/60 or 60/60.

Not sure what I'll be running next, but enough street tires are available for 16" due to the common use of them on 1/2, 3/4, and 1 ton pickups that I'll be running 16s on the street MJ for the foreseeable future. You can get some real nice snow tires for 16s too due to all the guys plowing with those same trucks... at least that's why I think they are available for that size. Picked up a set of 31" approx firestone winterforce UVs for under 300 bucks installed.

I have 295/75r16's on moab spec rims. Would like it a bit wider, maybe an inch per side, but for looks and stability only, doesn't rub at all.

craigslist is full of cheap tires for 16's. I just bought a set of 95% bfg rugged terrains in 265/75r16 for my suburban, on rims, for $150.
