ive used to ride for work (merchandiser for pepsi and had to travel between stores) and i was out in rush hour traffic dodging crazy drivers that never knew i was there. there were plenty of times where gettin in the throttle to scoot out of the way of someone swerving into my lane with a vehicle thats too close and big to slow down enough if i hit the brakes the dodge them. so blipping hte gas to scoot up was only option. i think in a very heavy traffic situation where people are easy to lose you, having something with grunt to get up and go is a good thing...
Oh, I agree that sometimes accelerating is the best way to avoid a bad situation. But, what I'm saying is that virtually all modern motorcycles will have the power you need to do so. Even a Ninja 250 will do 0-60 in under 6 seconds, which is far better than the vast majority of cars on the road.
