Soon it will be like the military. They'll come inspect your house verify how much ammo you have and how your weapons are stored. You'll have to report how much ammo you expended within 24 hours. Or maybe they will only sell it at ranges and pat you down before you can leave. That would be cool.

Sounds awesome, any high tech (embedded systems / computer engineering) jobs in the area?Oregon...laugh all you want....but $39 plates every 2YEARS. cheap everything.....no sales tax on anything. great fishing, hunting etc. O yeah no safety or smog checks. cops couldn't care less these days.....lifted.....so what.... they have bigger problems then your XJ dude. Move her to Oregon and she'll be closer to home and you'll be happier still. You'll also have a 4 yr. concealed weapons license for 50 bucks that covers any gun you own. did I mention less rain then WA. and NO SALES TAX! Honey we will so much closer to your relations.....they can visit anytime or you could go there over a weekend. Driving in NY (Buffalo/Rocehester area) sucks. They don't have the highways that we do, so surface streets are fully clogged whereas ours are somewhat clear, it'sthe highways that are clogged. Plus, they're psychotic in inner-city Buffalo.
Not sure what my percentage is (too lazy to do the math), but I'm paying $1100ish a year on an $85,000 house. Speaking of which, that's on 5 acres with a 2 bedroom house. So not all property is expensive...you just have to move out where no one wants to live.

Shut up. Just....shut up. They're already talking about that as of like 2-3 yrs ago. Being able to just drop in and check to make sure your guns are stowed in a safe with a gun lock and the ammo stored separately, and heaven help you if you have kids in the house and your guns aren't "properly" stored.
Earthquakes ain't nothing. You jiggle around a little and go about your business. We haven't had a big one in a long time. Forget hurricanes, tornadoes and blizzards. Those things actually leave a trail of damage that takes more than 5 minutes to clear up. The thing to worry about out here is fires. We set ourselves on fire every year, multiple times.
