all this whining you could have ordered the reamer and had it there tomorrow. many machine shops these days will not touch steering components due to liablilties. None in my area will.

Thats cool, wasnt sure if you remembered, its been a couple years.

Are you looking for a 5/8 reamer with a 1/2 shank? Or are you looking at making it bigger than 5/8? I could mail you a used one, then you could futz with the cutting oils and get your ID. Let me know, either way.

he needs a hole that is about 11/16" at the top and 5/8" at the bottom the hole needs to have a 1/2" per ft taper when finished

Snap-on part number R151 IIRC. Or I could be totally off.

The snap on one, has a square end, with a T handle for reaming. You have to cut off the T end, and grind down the shank to make it fit in a 1/2" drill.

this work is not extensive and best done by hand anyway. (that is why they come with a T handle) It would be very easy to cut too much material with a drill, by hand it usually only takes about 5 minutes to do each hole

Meh, I did mine with a drill and just went slow, checking my progress on the TRE as I went. It would be easy to go too far, just ream a little and check bit by bit.

I did the first hole. painted the upper section of the reamer yellow so I knew without checking the correct depth

That would work also. I checked the depth on my previously reamed pitman and marked the reamer with a Sharpie when I did my Waggy pitman, but it still never hurts to check as you go.

there are other ways to do this. you can get tapered inserts that have a small collar. you just drill out the knuckle straight, tap in the tapered insert, then weld the collar to the knuckle. might be easier to find a welder than a reamer it sounds like.

I found a shop that would do it for me. He wanted me to bring the stuff by for a price. What a waste of gas. It reaffirmed why I do things myself. He wanted $150 to ream 3 holes!!!! I will just order one and do it next week. Thanks for all the input. Im not whining just irritated the tool is so hard to find locally and one wasnt offered from TnT when I purchased the components...
