Re: Identification of Dana 44
I know this is an older thread(2006), but figured no need to start another for somewhat the same question.
I'm just curious what the actual date of this axle is. We pulled it from a Nissan hardbody truck that was SAS'd/leaf'd in the front. I'm 99.9% sure it's Wagoneer lo-pinion D44 with some 2.XX gears, 6 lug, no lockout hubs, but while doing some research I found this link:
http://www.4wheeloffroad.com/techar...3_dana_44_front_disc_brake_swap/photo_07.html
I took a picture of what's stamped on my tube...but it's not making sense to me. I can't post the picture here because i'm a noob(I guess), and i'm not at home to access photobucket.
The stamping says: 12 4 8C
The "12" ,"4" and "8" are thinly stamped, but the "C" is prominently stamped.
This is the other code further to the right of the date stamping(bill of material): 10227 1
