Re-arching rear leaf springs

HAs anyone re-arched their factory leaf springs for lift.
My dad just did it on his 1982 ford bronco. For $180 he had the springs re-arched 1.5", added a leaf, and put new bushings in both ends for a total of 4 inches of lift.

Sounds good to me but I wanna know if any one else has done it?
Any input is appreciated...
You guys are awesome:worship:

Thanx

Problem with rearching springs is, in the case of used ones, is they sag that much quicker. Generally XJ and jeep springs mostly lay flat which is why they droop so well. Look at a stock YJ sometime, all 4 springs are flat. For the cost of rearching, rebushing, a full length add a leaf you can pretty much buy complete spring packs with the lift you already want. And to be honest, jeep leafs are not the best in the world either. :D

i rearched some 4.5 RE leafs and it didnt do anything.........

rearching will bring the spring back to the original height and it wont last long

commin misconceptopn is that rearching gives a different arc, most shops take that to rearch the packs to stock, you want to specify to arc the springs to give lift. I had my stock packs that were a year old arced to the same arc as the RE add a leaf in my lift kit, had the add a leaf added into the pack and after 4 years no sag what so ever with lots of abuse

I've re-arched the springs on my truck four times. It's a waste of time and money when you can get new leafs for just a couple hundred dollars, and have something thats better, newer, and will last longer.

X2, Waste of money to rearch a weakened old spring. With a new spring pack you get metal in the springs that is not fatigued and you also get new bushings.

I had both rear springs re-arched and added a full length spring second from the top- so far so good- time will tell
