RAMSEY "WONDER" WINCH - $185 Plus shipping from 47346 - or trade for xj lift parts / lockers / XJ roll cage / D44 / 8.8 / tubing bender / roof rack....etc
I have a like-new RAMSEY RW4000. The cable looks like it's never been unspooled and there's a few lil' scratches on the plastic covers from sitting around my shop...but other than that...it looks like it's an almost-new unit. It has a corded-RAMSEY brand-REMOTE CONTROL switch that works as well and is around 12' long. I've hooked this up just to check the in and out function of the motor and it's fine.
I have an owners manual with detailed parts diagrams and lists complete with all part #'s for every part on this winch. It also includes a complete dimension drawing with it as well.
This is basically the smallest winch that fits on all the popular bumpers, brackets, universal mounting plates and other combos with the other, bigger winches. Basically it's size and mounting is the same as all of the more popular bigger and more expensive winches. It's not an ODD-BALL size like alot of these other budget priced winches out there. So it has a full line of support for attachments, and accessories.
It says its rated for "general utility and light duty front mount 4x4 use" It has a straight-line pull rating of 4000lbs...which could be doubled w/a block-tackle to 8000lbs. It has 7/32" aircraft cable on it. It would definitely do the trick to get you out of those high centered situations and out of other bad spots...when no one else is around to help you.
I'd feel that this could work ok for your lighter rigs out there as long as you're not trying to run a competition......or pull yourself up a completely vertical cliff or something. LOL... If you're not gonna use it for moderate 4x4 use.... it could also be used as a nice trailer winch.
I can take a few pics if someone is truly interested:
