Radiator Recommendations

I'm driving the '95 that I got from the son. It was fine driving around Colorado and would run a little hot on our forays into Utah. But here in Tucson it runs on the hot side all the time and goes into the red if I run the a/c too long (and as you might know you have to run the a/c in Tucson). I have even vapor locked it in town. It has a nice 6" lift and I'm running 33's. I will need to tow a trailer back to Co. when my conract ends so I thought that I better take care of the cooling issue or I won't make it back up the climb to ABQ. I saw some 3 row radiators on ebay but was wondering if anyone has had any experience with them. I plan on stroking out this motor like the last one so the radiator would be needed any way.

I haven't had the chance to go wheeling around here but I have been warned that many of the 4 wheel areas are immigration and drug corridors so that I shouldn't go out there alone and unarmed. I'm armed, no probelm there, but don't know any one yet around here to wheel with especially since my days off are tues, wed.

Thanks for any help.

I used to have temps that spiked all the time. As it turns out, you really need to work on getting the air burped out of the head. I finally found a way that works well. I made sure I had a relief hole in the thermostat. I then parked the vehicle nose high and removed the upper radiator hose. I filled the head through the radiator hose, waiting for all the bubbles to leave.

Beyond that, you might want to check out a new fan clutch. You could also swap out the clutch for a fixed spacer for your trip. It will make a ton of noise, but will pull a ton of air through the radiator.

Do you still have the radiator shroud? Many older rigs have had them removed and that will cut down your cooling efficiency.

I have run a 3 row radiator since I converted to the stroker and it has worked well for me.

I'm with tom make sure you got all the air out of the system with the right Tstat if it doesn't have the bleeder valve deal on it from the dealer its a pain to get it all out of the system. the part stores I went to none of them have the one that I wanted. Paid a bit more for it at a dealer ship but well worth it.

Thanks for the posts. I have to drive into town to get online so this is the first time that I have seen them. I have burped the radiator system. Twice now. I believe that this is just a combination of an old engine and a ired radiator. I really want to rebuild this engine but have nowhere to do it here. I needs a new radiator so I thought that I would just get a three row. If I don't put in a radiator I think that I will end up towing it back to CO. In fact it looks like I may be going to Palmdale, CA for a very lucrative contract. I know, Cali, right. Thought that I would never go back.
