radiator leak

My xj has be arked for a few weeks sence i had it painted. i have noticed coolant leaking from the radiator cap. i looked at the over flow line at the cap and it is wet. I checked to cap and the fluid is to the top. any ideas why it's leaking.

Always post year/engine for the most accurate replies. There are significant differences through the years.

Do you mean the radiator cap or do you mean the coolant reservoir?

it's a 96 with a 4.0

The radiator cap AND the filler neck on the radiator (they can crack) are suspect.

Replace cap and inspect filler neck closely.

Thank you for your input, I changed the cap and haven't had any leaks. It was just strange that it would leak just sitting in the driveway.

I would suggest a snorkel kit for Skwerly's rig.
