now i just smoke about a pack a day, and dip about 1-2 tins a week
i wouldent recomend trying to switch dip for cigarettes

I used Chantix a year ago, i have not had a smoke since then.. I found out if the guys at work smoke around me, i don't even think about having one.. Good luck.

Tried with copenhagen for about a year in Iraq and all i did was dip inside and smoke outside didnt work so well. But it is easier to quit dipping when your GF or wife won't give it up no more if you dip, made quiting copenhagen real easy.

i tried dipping instead of smoking for awhile. my wife begged me to stop and when i wouldnt listen she started dipping too just to show me how foul it was. i havent touched dip since :D

i smoked for almost 15 years, and just decided to stop one day. now i only smoke when im workin on the jeep or out drinking with my buddies. i dont miss it at all :dunno:

So after your nightmare, did you go outside and smoke to calm down. LOL! :greensmok

.
LMAO! That's just cold!

I am at 2 & 1/2 years of not smoking now. Zyban took the edge off, I used gum, candy etc. when I wanted to stick something in my mouth.

This web-site helped me to adjust my thought process:

Keep on keepin on!

I was on them for about 2 months. Went from an average of 6hrs of sleep a day to 3. The dreams were great though. JIM.

My dad smoked for 30 years and tried everything to quit... twice! He tried pills, gum, hypnosis, acupuncture, support groups, cold turkey, and others.

I bought him this book last year... he hasn't touched a cigarette since he finished it! I called him a week into it (in the past he's all irritable at that point)... I asked, "so, how's the smoking thing going?". I swear... it actually took him a couple seconds to realize what I was talking about! It wasn't even on his mind a week later. He's definitely done... it's been 6 months now.

I've bought it for 4 more people since then and the ones that are done with the book are done with the cigarettes! I'm amazed!

Anyway, congratulations Stryker and best of luck! Whatever works you you... keep on doing it!

So what method does the book preach? What makes it work? Got a bunch of black lung pics in it or what?

To be honest, I don't understand exactly what did it (I think it's hard for me to understand because I don't have any addictions to relate it to)... but when I asked the same question, I was told that it doesn't preach scare tactics and there is no 'gimmick'. It's been described to me as a 'logical approach to quitting'.

What really surprised me... the 3 people that I know that used it to quit... are all completely different personalities. From gullible to skeptical. Another friend that is reading it right now doesn't even want to quit (I don't know why not!)... I'll let you know how it goes for him!

i also know quite a few people that have quit with this book, one of them a 2 pack a day smoker for over 40 years. all of them have quit, cold turkey.

pretty cool if you ask me.

My Dad smoked Camels from age 16 to 57. At 57 he had a mild heart attack. He quit smoking the day of the heart attack. I'm proud that he able to quit. As far as I can remember he never tried to quit prior.

He was smoke free for the 5 years prior to his death of lung cancer.

quitters never win! j/k and congrats! My dad has been smoking since he was 14 and is now 56. He's stubborn as hell and if I bought him that book, he wouldnt read it. He doesnt have any interest to stop smoking. I just want him around longer

My uncle, who was like a dad, quit smoking about 10-15 yrs prior to his death from lung cancer. He quit starter doin good, then they found the cancer. Got it into remission for about 7-8 yrs I think, but then it came back and they couldn't do stop it. He died about a week before my planned trip back to see him before he went...:(

That said, I congratulate and respect anyone who quits. Terrible habit and it can still come back to get ya even after you quit...all the more reason to do it sooner rather than later.
