quick shock ?

if the shock is labeled one way, it must be run that way....

emulsion shocks, if ran upside down, the piston will travel thru gas, which will result in funky operation. its designed to flow thru oil, not air.
 
Depends on the type of shock.

Most hydraulic shocks are not designed to be run inverted, and the ride/performance will suffer dramatically because the valving will not function as designed.
Some gas shocks can be run inverted, but you'll want to verify their orientation with the particular manufacturer.
