Question for CRASH

hey Crash, I think I remember reading that you helped someone install a Toyota axle in a Jeep. The more I cruise around the Toyota boards and look up info on the 8" the more I really like it. I have figured out solutions for the driveshaft connection and the bolt pattern and width difference.

Two things I haven't been able to figure out are how do you attach the brake lines and e-brake lines? My understanding is the brakelines are some metric size... did you find an adapter or redo the lines? And for the e-brake, what does it take to hook it up?

No, I have never put a Toyota 8 inch into a jeep. I have done a couple of Electric locker third members into non-elocker housings.

As i think I have discussed before, you can get a pre 1995 two wheel drive V-6 pickup housing, which is an 8 inch third member with 30 spline axles, and a 5 on 4.5" pattern, and retrofit it for use with an E-locker.

It involves a bit of welding and bit of drilling and tapping.

I am about to use a full floating E-locked Land Cruiser axle in my buggy, and I think I have a solution for the brake line situation. It will involve fabbing a hydraulic junction block a the axle which uses metric inputs from the slave cylinders and a standard 3/16" output that goes to the MC. The cables for the e-brake just require you to use the OEM Toyota cables and attach them to your OEM Jeep system. I wouldn't try to retrofit the Jeep cables to the Toy system.

there might be an adaptor to be had, or when you get the rear axle cut the hard line, cut off your old fitting and install the one from the toy axle and put a double flare on the end. and bolt together.
