So sheet metal, welding and the like still isnt an area I have the knowhow or tools for. Wondering if someone could point me in the direction to have it done. I am happy to do what i can to help

You might PM Seth (proracedriver) and see if he'd wanna do it on the side, or have you do it where he works at Crawlertech. Dunno if he's ever done the cut and fold but I would trust him given his bodywork and fab background and experience.

I tackled it myself a few years back and was kinda surprised how easy it was using a dremmel tool and a bunch of cut off wheels. I used body seam glue and rivets to put it all together, no welding.

Here's the write up with pics I used to do mine:

Like I said before I dont yave the tools for this either. Id bewilling to go at it if someone would let me use the hardware and could keep be there to make sure i do t screw it up.

is that his rig before buggification?

LOL........ yeah. Musta been kinda like having a new pocket knife and a whittelin' stick....... he started cutting and couldn't stop!

Frank says he is way too busy. My quarters are looking pretty rusty so I would lime to fi d someone with sheetmetal and welding experience. Anyone?

Post pics of your quarters so we can see what you're working with.....

HOLY SCHNIKEY!!! You will be lucky to cap that off after folding!

I'm only saying that to bring your expectations to a reasonable level. you don't have pristine metal, don't expect pristine results. I think what is there can be cleaned up and sealed well enough to stop the rot in that area.

That's actually not too bad. The good news is that it appears that the rust hasn't moved to the pinch seam yet. Which means you could probably just make a patch pannel which would give you enough material to fold and tuck.

Just a larger version of this:

Yikes..... What's the rest of the body like? Floorboards?

Yeah looks like it'd be better to just cut away the rusted metal and fold up what ya can.... Then ake a panel to close up what is left open.

Its aluminum alloy right? I dunno why i didnt think about just buying some sheetmetal and folding what i can and putting a cap on and riveting that.

It's 18ga mild steel; but still, if you have a way to cut out that panel and leave extra material at the bottom as a flap, you.can drill and rivet a new piece rather than welding.

That would be the easiest route. Home Depot sells 1' x 2' sheet metal pieces. Make a template out of cardboard, cut the sheet, then fit it to the body.

Okay The Home Depot sells steel what do I want galvanized or weldable?

Not galvanized. Just get plain old raw mild steel. I think they run like $12.00 for a 1x2.
