Purpose of the chapter?

You decry having to drive hours to an Off-Road park. Sure it's a pisser, but how does that differ from driving hours to, for example, Devils Lake? We all have out own form of recreation. Enjoy what you can, ignore the humans, take home a memory you can embrace.

Those are words to live by

good points, my friends.

and i know that those images arent from close around here...

...wasnt asking people to move mountains here for me!...

...i kinda just figured i could extend a question about local peaceful places into a huge outlet and see what bounced back...

you know, the locals always know the best spots ; )

if you wanna play, you gotta pay (drive)

thanks!

It is completely untrue that in order to "get away" You have to drive long distances

A number of the burbs have "Wildlife Preserves" that undoubtedly have nature trails in them. You can find them on maps, or on the web. Infact, here's on link: http://www.chicagowilderness.org/wildchi/index.cfm
Go though that entire site, there is a lot if info there there.

I was glad to see the grant money that the govenor set aside for new and existing OHV trails and parks in Illinois. :)

Just because Governor Chicagovich set it aside doesn't mean it will ever get spent on trails. He has been trying to steal the snowmobile set-aside trust for years to pay for the general park budget.

I think its a good thing having a chapter. Some of us from Northern Indiana and Lower Michigam have been getting together the first Sunday of each month at BW3's in Mishawaka IN, we are about to have or 3rd meet up. Each time we have had more show up. I guess a "subchapter" as someone called it.
Maybe Michiana NAXJA. LOL

Sub chapters would be a good thing to have organized maybe by smaller regions or by city. Think of how big the "Midwest" is. If we had smaller "sub chapters" then it would be a lot easier to organize meets with in the sub chapter and then maybe a annual "chapter meet". I know we are no where as big as the VFW, but imagine if they only had a few regional chapters. They would never get anything done. You know if you want to do a meet and greet and its in Illinois, Then its hard to do if you live in Oklahoma or even Kansas City. And I think that a lot of us just say screw driving all that way. That's a lot of money just in gas to get that far and a lot of hours of driving. I think that there should be a vote on whether to make sub chapters or local city chapters or something that is more locally organized than the whole Midwest. Just my thought on it if anyone wants to get serious on the matter.

Sub-chapters tend to form themselves based on the local membership surrounding population centers. They don't need official sanctioning, just make friends with the NAXJA folks around you.
