This is a public service announcement: there is an $80 rebate on Goodyear MTRs thru early April 2011. You can get 4 of the 35x12.50/R15 tires for under $800 shipped from Tirerack.com. I am not affiliated with Tire Rack but this is the best deal I have seen from them in the last year.

I got that $80 rebate when I bought my tires last summer. Pretty nice deal, $80 is a nice kickback for buying some nice tires.

I will make one point about Tire Rack. They are a good company to deal with, I bought a few sets of tires from them back in the day. Nowadays I use www.discounttiredirect.com. Why? Because of the road hazard warranty offered by them. Tire rack sells a warranty too, but not on off-road tires and you must ship the tire back for inspection. Discount tire direct is the online version of America's tire. Any and all warranties can be handled in person at your local America's tire store regardless if you bought them online or not.

Prices are comparable without the road hazard.

35 x 12.5 x 15

Tire Rack $202 each, plus $65 shipping for 4. No road hazard offered.
Discount tire direct $222.77 with free shipping. $28 per tire for road hazard.

I paid the extra $100+ for the road hazard. This is less than half the cost of one new tire. America's tire is good about warranty replacements as well. I have returned a few over the last couple years with no questions asked. You get a free replacement tire, and the option of buying the road hazard on the new tire.

BTW, MTR's in the 35 x 12.50 x 15 flavor are on backorder until April.

I've bought a couple sets of tires from Tirerack before and shipping was fast. I would not hesitate to buy from them again. However, having worked for Americas Tire in the past, I know they can be trusted to work on my vehicles and they price match. The rebate should also be good through them as well since it's a mfr rebate. Keep in mind tht you will likely choose to buy that warranty on the replacement tire like Brian mentioned. So, it's not that much cheaper than buying a new tire. But that is a question of how likely you think you are to need to replace a tire. It will be lots cheaper if you replace more than one tire.

Looks like there is also a $40 rebate on Duratracs.

they're in Reno :) why pay shipping when you have a good excuse to hit the strip? penny machines here i come!!

Has anyone shopped tirerack? are they a good company. and how long does it take to get the tires?

I have used them a few times before for my wife's car. Shipping is fast when the tires are in-stock; its only a few days. Right now the 35" MTRs are backordered until April but you can still get the discount if you order before then.

I would also like to point out that on www.discounttire.com they are offering $25 off for two tires or $50 for four when you order online today. Saw this from their Facebook page.

So, I think I'll be buying tires today - 31 x 10.50 x 15. Now which ones to get...the Falken's and BFG's are also eligible for an additional $50 off if I get the Car Care One credit card for the purchase. Falken is looking pretty good right now.

Falkens for $628 ($578 w/credit card) installed and out the door

BFG All Terrains for $706 ($656 w/credit card) installed out the door

This would be a great deal for MT/R's but cost more than I want to spend.

REVOs are my choice (other than the price), but the Falkens look good. Have heard good things. They have a 45 day return guarantee as well. Check out their sister site discounttiredirect.com as the prices are cheaper. They will match the price. So, less money.
IF you get the Falken's let me know how they are.
Do not waste your time with the BFG's.

My PS3 died yesterday and I just attempted to fix it without success, so the winner is. . .

Looking forward to giving these a try! Not sure when I'll get them installed, maybe next Saturday morning though. Could not say no to that price along with a 50k mile warranty and ride guarantee.

Exactly. Also, www.discounttire.com will charge you tax, www.discounttiredirect.com does not charge tax. ;)

Yeah. When I ordered mine from them, I got free shipping (to my house), no tax, free mounting and balancing (because I bought my wheels through them), they special ordered the wheels I wanted, and even sold them to me for the best price I could find! I'm a big fan. Check their ebay store too!

semi related hijack time: who has a deal on a set of soft 8's for the discounted tires to mount on?
