Proper fuel pump testing procedure

Hey guys.
I think my year old fuel pump is dead.
0 psi at rail. don't hear it whine.

I wanted to confirm before I go crawl under there.
With ignition on. I should see 12v at the plug to the pump.
correct ?

It will only turn on for a few seconds. You will have to have it ready or have someone cycle the key for you or crank it to test it. Make sure to check the ground too and use a test light, as in will have a small load to it that a multimeter will not.

okay. im iffy on this.
test light wont light.
im getting 6volts when i check with voltmeter.
fuel pump is giving 20psi when I turn engine on and off today.
I pulled it
its not clogged.

I think I have a bad ground.
I see on my 92 cherokee the fuel pump goes into the unibody.
anyone know where the ground is ? or should I just cut it and ground it with a self tapping screw ?
and if so. which wire is the ground ?

should be able to bypass the relay with a small jumper wire. you can test for voltage at the relay that way as well

check voltage on both sides of the fuse

bought a new fuel pump.
rather traded my lifetime bosch one.
jeep is working again.
I did wire brush all the connections too.
woohoo im mobile again !!
