This pile had a turdy five in it

Re: Project: The Silver Bullet

so i planned on taking out the rear end and slapping in the rear i pulled out of my 95
reasons:
1-the 95 has a locker in it
2-the 95 just had all new brakes put on
3-the 01 was grinding bad

what i did not know was that the 01 had a d35 in it. we are starting the tear down and wondering what the hell all these extra lines are for the brakes. one guy that works here said those are ABS lines. as soon as he said that rew and i glanced over at the pumpkin and confirm, yep thats a D35.

so unexpected reason number 4 swap out the d35 with a locked 8.25

also got the front bumper up and installed. forgot to snap a pic, will grab one tomorrow. sliders are painted and will get installed sometime next week. heading to macs tomorrow to install the gears. and hopefully sometime next week i can get the transfer case that has the SYE swapped in so i can start planning the lift.

Re: Project: The Silver Bullet

Out of curiosity, how common is it that a 2001 has a d35 in it. I always thought they stopped using the way back in the early 90s. rew mentioned that it might be because its a limited and so they wanted ABS on the limiteds

Re: Project: The Silver Bullet

All XJs with ABS had a D35. So that was kinda nature of the beast.

Re: Project: The Silver Bullet

Sam didn't even know it had ABS until we had it in the air.

Re: Project: The Silver Bullet

The 98 limited I just picked up within the last month has a d35 in it. It has ABS also. I will be removing the entire ABS system as soon as I can. New axles front and rear will help speed up the process.

Re: Project: The Silver Bullet

I know that ABS means d35, like rew said, never even thought about it, figured i had an 8.25 in my 2001. i was unaware that they continued to use the d35 that late in years. i was just wondering how common it was, and seems like phil has the same deal.

here is a couple pics of the JCR bumper

the flare will be coming off when the fenders get trimmed for the 35s. i think the bumper will look a lil better when the flares are off.

Re: Project: The Silver Bullet

I think that bumper would look a lot better body color. :D

Re: Project: The Silver Bullet

You know I've just got a raging semi for that color... Love that silver.

Re: Project: The Silver Bullet

I think the color sucks. everybody knows the best jeeps are green!
