whats your next move?
whats your next move?
Then I'll get a mock-up 440 block/heads/headers/etc. ATTEMPT to throw into the engine bay along with the rest of the drivetrain and start SMASHing everything up and building engine mounts/new crossmember/bellypan, etc. UNTIL IT FITS!
sweet. so done in 2 weeks?
Only if I can clone myself and send him to work so I can work on it everyday.
You'd make so much money. What's 2 x 1,000,000/hour?
BLUE?!?!
a mopar guy like you, and you painted the block, blue. wheres the orange.
son, i am disappoint.
That is actually GM blue. Looks almost exactly like it. I rebuilt a 400 sm block (truck motor) for a 4WD El Camino I built many moons ago, and painted it that color.
I cannot wait to see how this thing runs Colin. Are you adapting fuel injection to it, or modding a carb to handle trail abuse?
My uncle said it might be closer to Ford blue
I'm pretty much settled on losing the carburetor (only using one for break-in). I've yet to see one in person that worked well on the trail. Just hearsay on the internet.
The route I've chosen now is to run 3 TBI throttle bodies controlled by Megasquirt on a six-pack manifold. Linkage will be one to one, with all the injectors just daisy chained together and only use sensors on one throttle body. Should provide plenty of air/fuel as well as being scalable to any upgrades I want down the road (cough aluminum heads cough)![]()
LOL... yeah, the Ford blue color is very close to the GM color too.
Sounds like a good way to control fuel. I would put sensors on each TB though, and be able to switch the wiring from one TB to the other for troubleshooting/dialing it in. Also, keep in mind that you will create more of an amp draw on the injector source (from the megasquirt) make sure that the megasquirt can handle the amp draw of having 3 injectors daisy chained (I am guessing that it typically only drives one injector). Some of those systems are very finicky with voltage/amp draw.
I hope it works. My experience with multi-carbs has been that it looks cool.... but is a pain in the arse to keep it dialed in. I never messed with multi TB's though, hopefully they are not as susceptible to climate changes.
