Project Geosynchronous Orbit

I stopped by Colin's tonight and finally took some decent pictures of Colin's Jeep. Rob (ROBZ95XJ) was there too drilling a lot of holes drilled in his frame stiffeners.

Warning, the following pictures are cat approved.

Colin: Proving safety is not necessary when using large drill presses.

This thing is dirty dirty dirty from sitting under that tarp and being worked on.

When I asked Colin how he gets into his closet, he replied "I just step into the axle shaft box."

At that point Rob's stiffeners were done, all 81 holes.

Due to the awesomeness that is Colin, the 3/4" bit was chipped once done. I got out the macro lens I had borrowed from my school's photo department, and started taking some pictures.

Also saw this tiny spider climbing in on the front fender. This thing was tiny, about the size of Roosevelt's ear on a dime.

You can see the strand he is hanging on

I think I made a new friend with the cat today.

nice shots mark
Yeah, the jeep's ok. Not really worth mentioning. :laugh3:

But seriously, it is nice to see some real pictures of what Colin has been up to.

Yeah my MJ got a photoshoot.

Welded in new floors yesterday and painted them including the rockers. Today I'm going to cover the UCA and then prep the rear axle/leaf springs.

Now back to shitty pics.

Made the box to cover the UCA.

Also, Adam came over and drilled out the leaf springs to 7/16. Carbide tipped masonry bits work amazing for this btw. He also cleaned them up and painted them. Thanks dude!

Jordan (Mr. Simon) kindly donated his old digital camera so starting sometime this week ill be able to take non camera phone pics.

Got some more stuff done today. Finished up the UCA box and started getting some things together for the rear axle. Adam stopped by to lend a hand before the M&G. Thanks dude!

Can you say grade 8 1/4"-20s? :D

Also got my flush mount drain plugs for the NP435 from McMaster so I threw those in. Not cranked all the way in yet since the NP435 still has no fluid in it.

And finally the leaf spring packs all assembled and ready. 7/16" center pins, 6 leaf pack, all MJ leaves.

main / main / 2nd / 2nd / 3rd / overload

I also extended the anti-fan clamp things. I don't know what you call them haha.

Nice work dude.

Holy overkill. I've got 4 stainless 1/4-28s holding my cover down. Not like there is any force on that. Oh, put some weatherstrip on the underside of those panels so water doesn't work its way between 'em.

Mcmaster forced me to buy a box of 100.

Figured I'd use a bunch lol.

I'm going to have so much extra hardware when I'm done with this thing.
