Project "Deerslayer"

So now I can see those Damn deer BEFORE they jump out!!! Or so I thought!!! Yes it still happened!

IT'S NOT MY FAULT!!!!!!!! They're committing suicide and I just happened to be there!! LOL

So another one gets in my way and I take him out! Truly LOVE my bumper! This one just bounced off but he still didn't make it!

NOW it's time for more light!! finally pulled the Detours mounts off the shelf and got them on and mounted up the old HF lights again. This time I used the remote Warn relay to hook them up. Off the relay there is an "enable" wire that they say to hook to the low beams. I hooked it to the hi beam wire so my long distance lights work with the hi beams only and the front fogs with the low beam. I'll be replacing these lights soon, when I decide with what.

Now it was time for some maintenance again. I replaced both front rotors and pads and put new shoes on the back. Also was having some vibes so I replaced both front hubs too. Got rid of the vibes so I'm assuming I made a lucky guess! Also cut out the old rusty rockers to make way for some 3x4x1/4 square tubing built in rockers.

Last month I traded "a guy" some other things for some parts he had laying around, so now I have the parts together for a '98 ZJ rear disc conversion. Might do the booster upgrade at the same time so kinda putting it off until I get the rest of the parts. Also ended up with what I think is the last set of Rock Lizard Fab's Gila Monster rear quarter guards with S.S. hardware, and also a frame reinforcement plate for the steering gear.

Still have to buy rear rotors but have everything else. Installed the rear quarter guards a couple weeks ago.

So as it sits now:

JKS adjustable track bar
Skyjacker 1-1/4 tie rod

Bushwacker flares
Oracle LED headlights

Warn fog lights
Detours USA A-Pillar light mounts

I like everything about it except the DnD rear bumper mounts only to the stock location.

The headlights are very nice.

Isn't that where most bumpers mount? And thanks, the new lights are AWESOME when I drive home at 3am from work. They may be one of the best mods I've done to it.

This past weekend I changed the dimmer switch at the base of the steering column and also changed the dash headlight switch. Then mounted 2 led lights under the spare on the swing away carrier for backup lights.
Also ordered the 231 transfer case shift linkage from Froelitch Suspension. Pics of the backup lights will get posted when I get home from work.

I like it. This thing has more lights than a low budget porno....

Cheese "lights, camera, action..." Man

So I get out of the Jeep at work a little while ago, thought it smelled a little hot, looked under the front and saw this! At work till midnight, guess I know what I'm doing in the morning! It's leaking from the weep hole on the water pump.

Either your Jeep is on a really good multi-vitamin or it's severely dehydrated.

I'm sure it'll be dehydrated by the time I get home tonight. I've got a 40 mile drive home so planning on topping it off just before I leave the parking lot and then about halfway home stop again at a 24 hour truck stop by the turnpike. Only 18 miles home from there.

So, made it home last night. Got up this morning and drove the wife's WJ down to NAPA and picked up a new not rebuilt waterpump. Started changing it about 10a and finished warming it up and topping off the antifreeze at 1:28p. I leave for work at 1:30 so just in time! :D

Man, what luck you have with the deer, eh? Ever look into a deer whistle, not the deal you stick to the front bumper but a device you mount to the vehicle and wire in. Seen them around the camper stores, just a thought.

Enjoying the build.

DEER WHISTLE? ???? I have enough problems with them now!! :banghead: Why would I want to whistle for them! !!!! :D

No, seriously, I have tried those ones that stick to the bumper and that doesn't seem to bother them. They still either just stand there or even still jump in front of me!! :what:

haha, I here that! My problem is I see more in town that at my place (10 miles out in the woods), can't go over 20mph or so anyways.

They still either just stand there or even still jump in front of me!! :what:

This! I had them on my f150 and had the same results as you. On my wife's exploder they work like a charm. Maybe they don't like Ford's and XJ's?:laugh2:

Air train whistle FTW!

Remember Ron White's line about deer and vehicles... "You slow a bullet down to 60mph, put headlights and a horn on it and you will get deer!"
