thatd be swell john... the misses is coming to visit this weekend. i can send her back with some brews.
on another note...........
i had originally hoped to start working with catia or NX again in my free time, and burn out some rock rings for the rims with the plasma in my free time. and get the caliper brackets burnt onto my knuckles. the plan is to throw them into an oven and get them to about 500 degrees, burn them home, and them let them slow cool in the casting sand we have in the other room.
but i recently got a little frustrated with my baja SAE team. the cars are still filthy, and there are no plans to clean them before february 22nd when we will be racing them at MTU. currently, my roommate and i are redoing the steering, front suspension, and pedal assemblies for our #9 car. further more, we felt that the cars need a COMPLETE overhaul to be "race ready". they didnt see the need to replace blown CV shafts or be sure that the car had all 4 lugs on each tire, and were torqued. wiring and brakes need to be completely gone through, and lights need to be working to be race legal. the car has bare metal, we have also found so many loose bolts, and i have too much pride to take a dirty car to MTU. i also refuse to have a failure because of a lack of diligence come race day. MTU being the biggest engineering school in the state, and this being a national event, with over 100 teams. so we are going to be showing our car to MANY other people in the engineering field. i understand that the event doesnt count towards points or standings... but have some pride.
recently we did a transfer case swap for a fellow baja member (swapped a burnt up 247 for a 242 in his WJ), who is in an office position. that in turns seems to have worked in our favor.
so we issued an ultimatum... we told them to let us (a group a 5 guys, only 3 of which who are actually going to MTU) do a complete overhaul on the car. all body panels off, frame up run through, and we have less than a month to do it.
his words were, "ive seen you guys work. if you think you can get it done... do it." we have less than a month. so im going to be spending the better part of both january and february working on our #9 car. the advantage being that we get sole precedence as drivers. the jeep will have to wait. i think im going to take the gopro into the shop and set it up to take pictures every 90 seconds or something, showcase the build.
