yea i want to. Think about buying some 2x2", can get it pretty cheap at work. And Building my own. I am ordering some HD offroad stiffies monday with the manche money. Want to do that before i weld the RK long arm mounts on

That sucks.... I just found a salvage source here that I can get them $90 a piece for... IF you can't source a local one...

local yards don't around mount pleasant don't have anything, and the ones that can get them want $750+. talking to a shop in lake city about a rebuild, and i know that gene's in Cadillac can get one for $550 which is the best price ive found from traverse city to detroit. ssssooooo... i guess what is happening is my father is pulling the trans while awaiting a return call from the transmission shop. if its not worth a rebuild, the junk yard special is going in.

RANT: if only i had another vehicle... NSG370 (the manual 6 speed in the rubicon TJs) have popped up for around $1000. in the TJs they were still using the 4.0, so its a direct bolt in. the only problem seems to be the crank positions sensor. but i also have almost 2 dozen articles saved on making the swap work. first on up respectively.
AX15: 3.83, 2.33, 1.44, 1.00, 0.79
NSG370: 4.46, 2.61, 1.72, 1.25, 1.00, 0.84

lower first gear means retarded offroadness, and with the final gear i can run retardly low gearing in the diffs and still do decent on the highway, ive run all the numbers through the calculators. and as you can see, 4th in the AX15 is identical to 5th in the NSG370. there are some, but not very many, complaints on the strength of the NSG370, but ive found just as many for the AX15.



me, well im stuck peddling my ass 4 miles from school on a 1987 USA olympic team model 10 speed. lance armstrong doesnt have a damn thing on me.

PS - im also internet and jobless. mount pleasant home depot "didnt have room" for me. so life is a bore at the immediate moment. didnt want to commit to paying for internet until i had another job.

I have a couple AW-4s laying under the bench. They are for 91-95/96 XJs tho I think. One for sure is out of a 93 ZJ the other is out of 96 XJ. I think both have the same plugs on them for the wiring harness. If they will work I can bring one to dan's next week for $100 plus 1/5th of jack (last time i bought a junk yard one it was $200).

thanks for the offer, but ill pass. i like my stick. on a side note, i DID find an AX15 out of a wrangler with a 231 WITH SYE. i know the wrangler T case is clocked differently, but for $350 itd be worth it to swap all the parts. listing is a little old, but it still wont hurt to call.

X2 my dad has an extra ax15 torn apart, depending on what you would need he might have it. We tore his apart, found the problem, fixed it and were good to go a whole lot cheaper than 550...

I missed the manual part...i thought you were wanting to possibly switch from an auto to a man...

i took the exhaust completely off the last time i had the transmission out of the baby jeep...i dont see a foul

to everyone else. its a matter of necessity...
im at school now, not at home. all i have is basic hand tools, no jack, no stands, not a ton of provisions. thats why the jeep was taken back to lake city in the first place. i cant even get on the web to research the topic of rebuilding it. i know the man is more than capable of doing so (he was an aviation mechanic for 26 years in the navy). but turn around is key. just like anything else, you pay for convenience. im not even sure how long it would take to source parts, get them, etc... if anyone has any suggestions please point me in the right direction.

today... i did not ride my bike to shool. :D today... it looks like rain, and im 100% ok with that.

left late last night with a buddy to scoop the jeep from lake city. buddy was doing 65 in a 45 and got pulled. cop was nice and wrote him down to 50, 5 over. me... i got my jeep back! and let me tell you, after driving a shitty trans for 2 or 3 years, its like a sports car now (figuratively speaking of course). jeep runs better now, no cracked header, muffler and cat replaced, stock down pipe was heated and opened up.

some additions and revisions to the list. all in all, im a happy camper. and i LOVE camping.

permenantly mounted my CB toad. i was tired of the inline fuse and wires getting F'ed up as the seat slid back and forth:

all buttoned up. i put the bracket BEHIND the plastic. i think its a cleaner look, and means the plastic is sandwiched in between the bracket and screws, rather than mounted to. much stronger i think:

and i finally put the shroud for the fuel lines back on. ive been meaning to since the corners were folded almost a year ago:

part of me thinks that i should have rounded off the edges of the bracket, but meh... more work than im willing to do. oil changed it tonight... auto zone was running a sale on the oil i prefer, so i capitalized on that. changing the control arm bushings tomorrow in between writing a paper. feels kind of good to be home though, enjoying the warm weather.
