project "Bad Influence"

right he isnt thinkin the jeep is gonna run a ranger down on the trails. but the trails here are all pretty tight and involve a lot of corners and whoop sections. the guys we have seen out are afraid to hold it wide and let it slide. while the jeep will be pushing not much more for power out of the 302 vs. 4.0 the driving and knowledge of the roads is whats gonna help....

we usually take our wheeling jeeps through the same trails as fast as tehy will go, and while built for complete opposite uses, we can hang in there with the ranger/FS guys. so somthing a lot lighter, deeper gears and a bit more power with a better setup should put us ahead.....

You need to talk to a shock guy to figure out your valving. I am not him, lol. But, if you plan on going bilsteins shoot a PM to "RandomThoughtsRace" on here, his name is Joel and he's a shock tech for Bilstein's offroad racing R&D team. He can help you figure out where to start and once you get it in the dirt he can help you fine tune it to get the most out of your setup.

Also read through the thread of the month posts here: http://www.naxja.org/forum/showthread.php?t=1037602

We haven't really kept up with it every month, but there is some great info in those threads.

Joel @ Bilstein here, I would be happy to get a set of shocks going for the Jeep if needed. Shoot me an email through normal channels if you want to chat about setup options. [email protected]

No i do not plan on running this in the jeepspeed events, where I'm at they hold open class events that will be mostly what it is ran in. Although i do not plan on running in anyones dust it does and will happen I'm new to the offroad racing world and am by no means saying i will be running up front in my first couple races, but i did grow up racin Dirty track in the south and know dust can be a PITA so i was leaning toward a filtration system just because.

Joel i will be in contact about the shocks!

And thanks for any info and advice

i want something different. noone around here that im aware of has built on. ive never been the one to jump on the band wagon of building something thats like what everyone else has. im still going to make it street legal and drive it alot to, but also want to enter in some events just to get a kick. plus i dont feel like going trough the trouble of making in 4wd so im following the "KISS" method. ive been doing the crawling for a little bit now and just looking for something different

he's commenting on your uneven lift plans ;) no reason to do that, keep it level.

it's sitting right now around 8" of lift on 33s. plenty tall, i wouldn't go any higher than that. the lower you can keep it the better, it will make it much more stable to drive fast.

Oh on makes sense now i thought he was asking why i was building one look.

Grimm why keep it even i thought the set up you would want is higher in the front? Not questioning your advice just curious cause this is how i see most set up.

only trophy trucks are like that, and only when they're flooring it lol. It's a poser thing to do, and it makes you look like a tool. look at a real race truck, sitting still. They don't sit like that, they sit even, the only trucks that look like that are the flatbiller "bro" guys who build em for looks not to use.

Something about 22" of travel, 15K worth of shocks and 1100hp. Also part of the look comes from moving the wheel openings in the fenders up to the fender line, and the fender line above the hood. The truck chassis is sitting level, but the fender is moved up.

edit: oops.
I never noticed how stupid those things look sitting still before.

Actually, those aren't trophy trucks. The class 12 trucks are a less open field, and they don't have as much suspension travel as the TTs. They have to have high spring rates to catch the front end before they bottom out. Actual unlimited TTs do sit level.(Try searching "trophy truck image")

burg...

Last I checked 600+hp 21/24+" wheel travel makes a race truck. The whole world doesn't race Trophys....look it up on google images.
