I have had my no-slip in the 8.25 for about a year and a half. I have driven it on ice, snow, rain, sleet or whatever northern MN can throw at me and it is awesome. You can break the rear end loose real fast if you aren't careful but if you drive like you are supposed to when the weather is crappy you won't have a problem.

Mine is quiet, I have never heard a sound from it, I don't know it is back there until I need it.

probably to get the c-clips out... from my experience it can be a PITA w/ a lunchbox and 8.25...

Ooops never mind, I was thinking my front 30

I have one in my 29 spline 8.25 and it has worked flawless for several years and I have not been easy on it. It started out in my DD before I converted that rig to my trail rig. I run Lucas gear lube in it and it is not as noisey as it was with the lighter lube. I have noticed that when temperatures get below 0 degrees, it is not engaging qute as easy, but I have a feeling that is related to the lube being firm from being so cold and the locker may have some of the firm lube in it. There is the possibility that it just needs a minor rebuild as well. That's just my $.02
Been pretty cold here also lately and have notice the same, no big deal as its fine after a few minutes of driving. Glad to see another noticed this, confirms nothing is actually wrong.

Have had mine for a year and a half, works great. I had the same issues taking it apart as others getting the C clip to drop when regearing, but eventually got it with a small dental pick.

Red xj limited and xj&tj4me could you guys elaborate on what yours is doing in the cold weather. Mine has been acting weird for the first couple miles when it's below zero here. Running the 85-140 oil and twice in a slight turn right down the way from my house it's lit up one wheel on the snow/pavement. But works flawlessly after a mile or two. Is this similar to your sluggish engagement?
