Powertrax no-slip vs. lock right

Looking for some opinions...I am leaning a certain way and want to see what the consensus is.

Currently have 8.25 27 spline geared to 4.10's. New lockright and Yukon shafts ready for installation (some day!) Truck is a weekend/camping jeep...no trails over "6" rating...but needs some traction.

Is the P-trax no-slip considerably better than the lock right in driveability terms on the street? I know they both function the same when locked under acceleration and I understand that the lockright will ratchet more around corners since it doesn't have the syncro ring and active spacer. Any reason why I should consider the lockright over the No-slip? Less functioning/breakable parts maybe?

Reason I am asking: I recently bought a used 29 spline No-slip in hopes of finding some 29 spline stock shafts and carrier cheap, and pay someone to set the backlash for me.

Is it worth it just to keep the 27 spline setup, install it myself, and call it done? From the research I have done, the Yukon 27's have the same break strength (or better) than the stock 29's. Regardless, I am not heavy on the skinny pedal...just hope I never have to deal with a break.

Just looking for some opinions from those who have run either locker on a DD vehicle. Which setup would you do? I am already invested in both setups...so I need a good direction.

Well the No-Slip is very smooth/quiet compared to Lock-rite,Aussie,etc..

hmm that’s kind of a tough one I guess if the strength of the 27 spline Yukon’s is better then stock 29s And the lock right is new compared to a used no slip I would probably keep your set up and run the 27s with lock right. And you wouldn't have to mess with setting up the gears.

As far as drive ability I have a No slip and its pretty quite most of the time but it will still bang and pop every now and then.

Sell the 27 spline lock right and shafts and buy a 29 spline Detroit soft locker.
Yeah...that doesn't help my situation...but thanks.

Thanks whitexj...thats what I am looking for. I am leaning towards the 27's and lockright just because i have all the parts and I can do the install. I am concerned that I will regret not using the no-slip however. I guess one other option could be to sell both and buy a 27 no-slip...end of story ehh?!

My buddy's 8.8 has a lockrite/aussie. It clicks and ratchet all the time, I can hear whenever he pulls in my driveway.

My old 29spl 8.25 had a no-slip and I never heard it.

**Both jeeps had 35" claws, wheel/driven simarily, same perforamnce on and off road.**

These are the same.

According to this chart there isn't a locker for a 29 spline from Richmond (aka Powertrax Lock Right Locker)

i personally am running a no slip in my d30 on my dd and i never feel or hear it ever, when crawling at most i hear a pop once in a while when it locks back up. also i ran a lock rite in my old d35 befor my 8.8 swap and that one i could hear it ratchet in turns no poping but would also do the occasional pop when crawlin

The front isn't the same, its usually a non-driven axle,on the street it should be "invisable".

i know but i do have experience with a lockrite in the rear so that helps, my 85 4runner had a lockrite i believe in the rear also and that one was loud as hell when ratcheting

I am starting to lean towards selling both the lockright and the 29 spline no-slip and purchase a 27 spline no-slip in their place. If so, these may be up for sale shortly. Just want to hear some more opinions first.

Maybe my No-Slip is broken but it does exactly that... It never slips. If I hadn't opened up the rear cover I would have thought my spider gears were welded...

I just put in a no slip in my 8.25 29sp, it made a few pops at first, mainly from all the grease i put on it probably.

After even 20 miles on it i hear nothing, dont feel anything on corners, works awesome!

i did trenches in 2wd that 4wd struggles on. Having that locker is amazing, cant feel or hear it.
